Question about 1989 Mazda MX-6

Mazda mx6 unable to start engine

My MX6 turbo 1989 model had heater core leaking. I had a mechanic by passed it. Since I brought it home, about 1Km distance from the workshop, it is unable to start the engine. I towed it to another mechanic, he told me there is sparks. I did not understand the meaning of it. He was busy rushing with other cars. He asked me to sell it off. I towed it back home. When I turn the car-key, the starter sounds OK and is trying to start. Pleae advise, what are the areas that I can look into. I am not a mechanic - but I like to give a try with your help. Thank you.

Hi, Thanks for the advice. I believe that battery is perfectly ok. I have a booster battery also. But now I've a problem- I can not locate the starter.

I have looked up the internet to see what the starter looks like. I have also read a forum indicating that starter should be located near the driver's tyre. But I just can't locate it. I must have been looking at the wrong area.I have seen all the pulleys.

Would you be able to guide me to locate starter of this car model?

    Thanks

Hi. your starter may sound ok but is the solinoid doing its job?. the solinoid powers the starter to turn your motor over. im not a mechanic either but i know a fair bit about cars. as i have addapted a solinoid off a different starter motor to my starter motor alot of muching around but i saved myself $400. if that is all ok i would be making sure your battery is holding its charge. check your charge rate when you go to start it also the starter might be drawing too much power out and not giving it enough to turn it over. another way is run jumper leads off another battery onto yours then try it. if it turns over then i would say lack of charge or worn out brushes etc in the solinoid. cheers

I would replace them if the head is out of the car. Do you have to...no..but if the old ones are leaking you are going to wish you had. and no you did not remove them in your : regular head and valve removel.
