1990 Chevrolet Beretta Logo

I have a 1990 Beretta. It started out where it would die at idle. Now it will run for like 2 seconds then die.

I have replaced an ignition module last time this type of thing happened. It was good for 14k miles. Now I have the same type of problem. Last time I replaced the plugs, wires, crank sensor, computer, igniton module, fuel filter. I have about 40 p.s.i. at the fuel rail with igniton on andd it holds pressure. Any ideas? The car has 94k miles on it.

The oxygen sensor was also replaced the last time there was an issue. 40 p.s.i. at the fuel rail is good, by the manual, with the ignition on and not running. The fuel does not bleed off when the ignition is turned off. I will check the fuel pressure regulator when it fires for a few seconds. I am not betting on this being the problem though.

    The plugs look good.

When it was driveable it would die when the gas pedal was pushed like 1/2 way. when I got off the gas pedal, as I was coasting, it would run at idle again.

The fuel pressure remains at 45 - 48 p.s.i when it does run for a couple of seconds. I can hear the fuel pump run as well.

do you have a parts store or repair shop that can test the ignition module, just to make sure it is still good?

The problem was a fuel injector. 5 had 12.7 ohms of resistance. 1 Had 2.5 ohms of resistance. This was the problem. There were no fault codes.

Check the DIS module or injectors. Check to make sure you have a spark on each cylinder. One cylinder could be misfiring

Sounds like the ignition module or magnetic pick up. You need to check for ignition spark.

93 beretta idles ok put in gear it dies highway driving ok but come 2 a stop it dies need help thank u

Does it feel like the transmission isnt disengaging and stalling the engine? If the transmission is automatic, it could be the lockout solenoid on the transmission. If it sticks, it will not disengage the transmission and cause the engine to stall when you come to a stop. Please let me know if this helps.
