Question about 1996 Ford Econoline
When I try to start the car, sometimes it will not start until I wiggle the gear shift in the parking position. Other times it starts right up. The this have something to do with shifting gear links. It now is getting harder to shift the gear lever to the different gears. Please help.
Almost definately, follow the shift linkages down the column and under the bonnet get a buddy to move them while you are looking the worn parts will be very obvious. quite involved to repair if it all needs to be overhauled, may be best to be left to an experianced tech, unless you have relevent experience. it wont start somtimes because the inhibitor switch is on the linkage.
