Have you actually checked the bulbs wit a vom and if not, do that first, second check power to high beams, thord check high beam relay and fuse, fourth check switch. Complete directions or available online if you need a link. I hope this info helps you solve your problem, Merry Christmas!

My headlights wont work

I don't believe there is a fuse. There is a circuit breaker built into the headlight switch. If you are sure the headlight switch is good, it could be a bad dimmer switch. If you have a voltmeter, with the headlight switch turned on, a larger yellow wire going from the headlight switch to the dimmer switch should be a hot wire. The dimmer switch sends power on a tan wire to the low beams, and through a light green wire to the high beam bulbs.
If your high beam indicator on the dash also doesn't work, then it is likely one of those switches. A voltmeter or test light would need to be used to find which one is bad. If you can find the connector at the steering column going to the dimmer switch, pull it apart and check for power on the yellow wire coming from the headlight switch, with the headlight switch turned on. If no power, the headlight switch is bad. If there is power there, then the dimmer switch must be bad.

take a look at the dash ground wire located next to the right of ebrake release handle. if the bole holding the ground wire is loose, which was quite common it will cause all kinds of feed back problems, like described in the comments section to your question.

Why wont the headlights won't go on

It can have a bad headlight switch, but most often it is a bad high beam switch on the floor.

Turn on the headlights and press the high-beam switch off and on a few times, if the headlights flash, flicker, or start working again then replace the high-beam/dimmer switch.

NO headlights. Could a timing belt issue be the

absolutely not the timing belt has no connection to headlights, first locate and check any headlamp related fuses located in either fuse box underhood or in dash area if no lights on high or low beam may pull headlight bulbs and check unlikely both go bad @ once this may end up being multifunction switch on steering column your turn signal lever is what you pull back on to switch rom high beam to low beam correct? if so this switch can cause your problem

2005 Impala headlights. Can I have the low and high beams on at the same time? If I hold the switch just right they are both on and I can see a lot better.

The hi beams when activated will have all headlight on. If you have to hold the swith in to keep them on that means the switch will not click into the locking mode to keep them on for you. Once you pull back the lever you should hear a faint click. That will lock the high beams on. Pull it again and the same click will be heard and that releases the high beams to off

No high beams, problem is not multifunction switch

Check the headlight switch to make sure that the connections or internal connections aren't corroded. This was a major problem for older fords, so it would be good to check it anyway.

What would cause both low beam headlights to go out at the same time? i have replaced the headlights and they still dont work.

The headlight high/low beam switch assembly.96 Safari has the turn signal stem as the high/low beam switch.Removal of the steering wheel is necessary to get to the switch assembly for replacement.
