Question about 1990 Plymouth Laser
This car one month ago was started parked and when I tried to start again an hour later nothing. So I took it to a mechanic and they said it was the computer (injectors were stuck open causing the car to flood), did the necessary and the vehicle ran again. I must say that I felt a little power loss from the change.
So now I start car in -25 (C) weather without it plugged in it runs fine all the way to town, approx. a 45 minute commute.
I shut off the vehicle for 10 minutes and when I went to start it heard some metallic kind of noise from the front driver area as i turned it over and it tried to fire the once and then nothing after that.
Sounded like the area of the timing belt, the car turns over fine still and seems to just be lacking a spark. From what I have heard, if the computer goes it normally takes something with it.
The mechanic that looked at it today says that my cylinder head is gone? I could accept the injectors maybe but not the head. There was no signs of a head going, the car was running fine with no noises or smoke of any kind.
just would not start once shut off.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cold start thermal shut down switch! I had one go on me soon as I replace it it started up keep in mind these switches become dense get hot and cold especially when they cool down rapidly in this cold weather hope this helps it has been a while but you should have two switches around your thermostat housing one is for fan and gauge the other is the perhaps the one just call dealer ask about thermal shut down sensor keep in mind this is not OBD 2 this is a old system and computer relies on that thermo switch for fuel pitch and mixer!! hope this helps good luck to you!
