I have the same issue(NO HEAT) with my 06 Equinox....it's been at the dealer for over a week and still not fixed. It's not any of the above (coolant, thermostat, etc.) that is causing the problem apparently something called an actuator (sp?) was installed wrong and when they try to fix it it keeps breaking!

I'm getting ready to pick up my 06 Equinox with a similar problem. Compressor was replaced at 35,500 - 7 months ago. Air cools really good for a short while - and then nothing. Heater works fine. Air conditioner makes a whining noise when running - turn it off - goes away. Chevy just told me that the actuators need to be recalibrated ($90). These are vents/doors behind the dash and for some reason (service manager couldn't tell me why) they need to be recalibrated occasionally. Complimentary shuttle is on its way to pick me up - so we'll see if that fixes it (along with the whining noise).

If the blower is blowing air just fine, but you cannot control the temperature, you need to listen to air coming from the vents while turning the temperature from hot to cold. If you do n ot hear any change in airflow, then you may a temperature door in the dash broken. this is becoming a common problem on the Equinox

06 Pontiac Torrent (Same basic vehicle) experience the same problem after a car wash. Forget the part name, but it's the door that flips from cool to hot was broken. Entire dash must be removed to replace. $1300.

I have the same problem with my 2006 Equinox. No heat. Took it to Chevy and was quoted $1200.00 to fix. It is the temperature door, which requires the whole dash to be removed. A recall would be nice huh!

I had the same problem. Problem is a broken temperature blend door not allowing air to get past the heating coils. The repair costs $1000-1400, but it may be possible to get GM to pay half. The link below has data on the problem and instructions on how to get the best chance at having GM contribute.

First try your thermostate(sp?) if not you could be low on coolant...if not try your heater coil.

Had no heat at all in my 06 equinox tried everything to fix and no luck. Until I noticed AC pump was turning on and off unplugged it and now have heat. What would cause AC to do that?

The A/C compressor will cycle if the climate controls are set to send air to the defroster vents, or if the controls are set to an A/C position. Running when on defrost prevents fogging. What is most likely your issue is that the blend door in the heater box is not shifting over completely to the heater core, thus you are getting the colder A/C air rather than the heated air. You could also have a kinked heater hose or partially clogged heater core.

I have a 2006 chevy equinox and i have no heat just blows cool air i replaced thermostat and still no heat. What is causing this?

either a blend door stuck or temperature control unit gone bad ---also try disconnecting the harness make sure contacts /pins are clean and in good shape and reconnect but more than likely blend door stuck

Why after replacing the blend door acturater in my 1997 lincoln which I had a code 024 for is it blowing just hot air now??

I am not aware of any obd codes that show up for what you are describing as a 024. The blend door actuator replacement is documented: http://www.markviii.org/LOD2/blend_door_repair.htm
and I would have to say that it is either bad or installed wrong.

I have a 1993 dakota, the climate control only blows though the window area. I cannot get air flow to move from the window to any other setting, floor or dash. Wondering what the issue may be and how to...

wakow4u, What you have to do is look for a vacuum line that comes from the engine and enters the passenger compartment through the firewall. This vacuum line controls the climate control. A small rubber hose that fits tightly will suffice as a good and quick repair. Good luck with this.

Would A 2006 Chevy Equinox with just 40,000 miles

Possibly. It depends on what the climate is like where you live. For instance, if you live in an area where the summer climate hits 110 (i.e. Phoenix), then your vehicle will need to be serviced more regularly. Best recommendation, take your vehicle to AutoZone, Checkers, O'Reillys, etc. for a free diagnostic check.

I had a similar problem and the dealership diagnosed it as a malfunctioning "belender" in the climate control system. The work was done under warranty.

Just brought used 94 cadillac deville ac works great but no heat

This is the the Cadillac Climate Control operates. When you press AUTO, the system will automatically maitain DESIRED temp . The A/C compressor will operate ALL THE TIME on AUTO. Don't want the a/c compressor to operate, PRESS " ECON". Air delivery will NOT be DE-HUMIFIED, nor will it cool, only warm,. Hope this helps.
