Question about 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
No matter where the climate controls are set You still get cool air , the car runs fine and is not running hot just no HEAT !
If the blower is blowing air just fine, but you cannot control the temperature, you need to listen to air coming from the vents while turning the temperature from hot to cold. If you do n ot hear any change in airflow, then you may a temperature door in the dash broken. this is becoming a common problem on the Equinox

06 Pontiac Torrent (Same basic vehicle) experience the same problem after a car wash. Forget the part name, but it's the door that flips from cool to hot was broken. Entire dash must be removed to replace. $1300.

I have the same problem with my 2006 Equinox. No heat. Took it to Chevy and was quoted $1200.00 to fix. It is the temperature door, which requires the whole dash to be removed. A recall would be nice huh!

I had the same problem. Problem is a broken temperature blend door not allowing air to get past the heating coils. The repair costs $1000-1400, but it may be possible to get GM to pay half. The link below has data on the problem and instructions on how to get the best chance at having GM contribute.

First try your thermostate(sp?) if not you could be low on coolant...if not try your heater coil.
