This canister is on left side of engine just to the front and inside of washer fluid refill. I can not see any supply hose to it for any fluid and it is silver in color. What is the canister? And what does it do? The mini is a 2005 Cooper

What bolt did you remove? If you removed the bleeder screw make sure its tight. If you removed the bolt going though the fitting for the brake line make sure the copper washer are in place and not damaged.
If the fluid is a bright green or yellow colour, it is coolant fluid. Check the water pump, there should be a seal leak drain hole under it, look for signs of a leak. If there is a green/yellow track leading from below the water pump. you need to have the water pump replaced. A leak from the engine would be dark brown to black an a transmission leak would be red tp very dark red. Coolant would tend to dry up while oils spills do not. The water pump is located on the side of the engine where the belts are. I do not know if your car is left or right hand drive.
are you talking about the brake master cylinder, leaking fluid down the fire wall in front of the drivers position? if so ,it is probably running down the inside under the carpet as well.. no matter where its from brake leaks need fixing straight away. it is probably the brake master cyl. that is leaking and it is not a big job to replace it "YOUDOIT"

reservoir upward slightly and then down so that the reservoir filler
neck and front washer hose pull through the opening in the front fender
Push filler neck and front washer hose through the opening in the
front fender side shield. Connect the reservoir to the body mount by
lowering the reservoir down.
Install the two reservoir mounting screws. Torque screws to 8.5 - 11.3 Nm (75 - 100 in. lbs.) .

pump motors and the fluid level sensor. Slide the red lock on the
connector to the closed or locked position.

As you are bleeding the brakes, start w/the furthest line (right rear), have someone add fluid at the same time. Do right rear, left rear, right front, left front until the fluid runs clear. Power steering, disconnect the low pressure hose to drain the canister. Refill with fluid. Repeat procedure, until fluid is clean.
