Power steeing fluid leaks

2006 Impala. I have had my car to the Dealership a total of 10 times in a 24 month period regarding the loss of power steering fluid. They have replaced the PS hydraulic pipe, steering hoses, clamps, PS fluid cooler, PS Steering Gear Assy (3 times) and the latest effort was to replace and reroute the PS line. And now (for the 11th time) I have lost the fluid yet again.

My steering rack was changed recently and the PS fluid was gone within a day. Apparently there are some tapered seals that must be replaced when the hydraulic hoses are removed. this is a very silly way of doing it as there are always the possibility of not getting it right.

I will collect my rack on Monday as it not fixed yet and I will take it to a hydraulics shop to modify the pipes and fittings to be some stock standard stuff that anyone can work on.

Maybe you should consider doing the same.

Try replacing the o ring or use double o rings between the reservoir and pump, pressure builds from use and the fluid blows out of this o ring even after the vehicle is off. When the dealer replaces the pump they re-use the reservoir and o ring so the problem does not get fixed. The fluid runs down the pump and the lines to the rack, instead of washing the engine and observing where the fluid is leaking from, they replace good parts until they find the problem. Sometimes one o ring isn't enough.

1996 chevrolet impala ss oil leak rear of engine

Is it engine oil or transmission fluid? Is it driven often or does it sit in the garage? If engine oil, then possibly the rear seal is leaking into the bellhousing as you drive and then draining on the floor after you stop. If ****** fluid, then possibly front seal on ****** is leaking. If car sits for long periods of time the input shaft seal can allow fluid to leak past the shaft. This usually will fix itself when driven. Can't promise it will fix itself permanently. Will not be an easy fix if either seal needs replacing (or cheap).

SjmMy power steering pump is whining in my 2006 impala ss. I checked the fluid one day and it was low is when the whine started. My friend said air in the pump. I tried the jack the front end up and turn...

Just keep the fluid level full and the air will bleed out on it's own. Be sure to check the level for the next few weeks to judge the size of the fluid leak present.

I have a 06 impala. During the snow, my power steering went out. I noticed all the fluid leaked out into my driveway. So I put another bottle of power steering fluid in it, didn't help a bit. The wheel is...

couple different ways to leak the fluid out, and cost depends on what part failed. so someone is going to have to put their eyes and hands on it to answer that question.

Engine light coming on and loss of around 30 percent power while driving , engine still sounding great .

When is the last time you had done the service, the oil change, the tuning timing.? If this has not been done for the last several months, I recommend that this be done. Yo can take the vehicle to the dealership for an estimated cost before you decide. If this service is done periodically then you must check your fuel, fuel filters, timing and tuning. Helpful? Good day

1991 lexus ls400 power steeing slowly got hard to

As mentioned check ps fluid. If it wines when turning and still no power then the pump is internally bad.. If the fluid is dissapearing fast then its a hose or most likely a leaking rack& pinion assembly..

Does it feel like it's trying to pull back straight? if so, I would say you have a seized strut bearing on the right side.

Pricing vary, depending on where you live and if you want it done at a dealership or at a local shop.It would be about 1hour of labor +price of the hose+power steering fluid. Dealer charges about $70.00 an hour.
You can call the dealer ask how much to change the hose. Also a local shop can gave you an estimate.
