Are you sure the latch broke? sometime they can freeze up and hang unlatched. The part that latches the door to the striker is "C" shaped. If it is flipped into the latched position with the door open, it won't work. If this is the case, use a screwdriver and pry the latch to the open position while pulling the handle. But if it is broken, yes it can be replaced. Usually torx or allen screws in the end of the door. Pull the door panel off and pop the rods off before you unbolt it though!

it sounds like the striker might be out of adjustment, or a spring came loose or broke you can also try spraying some good penetrating oil due to the water that is kicked up from your rear tires will rust up these parts

My 2002 Ford Thunderbird's driverside door will not close. It seems that the latch is stuck in the closed position, therefore the door will can not shut properly

In some cars it is possible to take the latch with your hand and move the mechanism enough that it will pop back into the open position for you. Be carefull if it snaps back into place your finger could get pinched.

Good luck, if you cannot reset the latch then you will have to replace it.

If you are able to reset it then I would suggest that you lubricate it to help prevent it from getting stuck again.

My door ajar light and beep keep randomly going off while driving with all doors shut completely.

either a door sensor is bad or a door latch is loose. you can take it to a ford dealership and they can look up which door is setting it off. Just double check the rear truck door and also the window in the rear door if thats on a latch.

Need to find fuse panel and door ajar light keeps coming on even thought all doors are shut.

There's a sensor attached to the internal latch on your Explorer's doors. Over time, debris or corrosion can cause the senson to stick "open". Just open your doors and spray a good lubricant into the latch area. Open and close the door several times. You should be good to go.

Good luck.

2002 F-250 door not register that it closed

The sensor is inside the door and is part of the latch to close the door. It has either come loose or is broke and you will need to replace the actual latch inside the door that keeps the door closed.

My car keeps beeping like the doors are open....but their not. The light keeps flashing too. I dont know how to fix it.

if it is cold were you are at .sometimes the sensor in the door latches gets sticky .the most likely fix would be to replace the drivers side door latch.because this is the most used door.a good shop can tell you for sure which latch it is for sure.thanks for your question i hope this helps.if the beeping goes on after the car is shut off and door is closed get latch fixed soon because this will draw down your battery!

99 ford explorer door wont shut

sounds like the door latch has triped while the door was open.the door is held closed when the latch grabs around the u shaped bracket you can see when door is open.make sure door is unlocked then with a screwdriver or even a pen stick it in the door latch and slide the latch over to reset it.
