Question about 1997 Buick Skylark

Several dash warning lights came on (idiot lights)

I checked with an OBD II and all is fine. I bought a different head unit and it won't start (it cranks but won't start). I put the old head unit in and it starts fine. I started it with old head unit and switched them while it was running, several of the lights are still lit...

I would first check for error codes using an OBD-II scanner tool- then research the Diagnostic Troubleshoot Code(s) to point you in the direction of the problem. Most common error is when DIYers read the scanner tool and automatically assume scanner codes pulled will pinpoint the exact problem. Scanner tools vary in scope. The bottom line, use the tool as a starting reference point, but you will have to test the component to make sure it is the one that is malfunctioning. Retrieved codes P0191, P0152, P1246, P1233 and P1000 on my 02' Taurus 3.0 OHV. What would be the most likely culprit causing these codes?

P1000 - Monitor Testing Not Complete The on board diagnostic II (OBD II) monitors are performed during the OBD II Drive Cycle. The DTC will be stored in continuous memory if any of the OBD II monitors do not complete.
  • Vehicle is new from the factory
  • Battery or PCM had recently been disconnected
  • An OBD II monitor failure had occurred before completion of an OBD II drive cycle
  • PCM DTCs have recently been cleared with a scan tool
  • PTO circuit is shorted to VPWR or B+ or PTO is on during testing
The DTC does not need to be cleared from the PCM except to pass an inspection/maintenance test

Changed head gasket, now won't start.

I would need to know the actual code numbers to comment, but in general those components would not keep the engine from starting.
Have you checked compression, spark and fuel pressure ?

Is that not a no brainer?

My 95 honda civic cp will not was running fine when I bought was almost out of gas so I put more in still wouldn't crank...I've checked the battery, fuel filter, spark...

No crank and no start are two different things.
For no start, you will have to figure out if it is fuel or ignition related.
You can run a compression test on the cylinders to check the head gasket. Usually a leaking head gasket will not cause it to not start all at once.
Hondas are known for fuel pump relay problems. Do you know for a fact the injectors have fuel pressure ?

Had friend put OBD diagnostics to it and error code indicated fuel pump ????? No code indicates replacing any part . Indicates testing ! pressure and flow testing , voltage drop testing the electrical circuit etc... There is a check valve in the fuel pump assembly that is suppose to keep pressure in the fuel lines an fuel rail . When the check valve goes bad allows fuel to drain back into the tank. Try turn the key on an off a few times to build up pressure . The PCM energizes the fuel pump relay for two seconds at key on .

Just bought a 97 Kia Sephia RS - OBD-II Problem

that usually means that the fuse for the DLC port is blown. if you check your owners manual look for fuses labeled AUX, CIGAR, DATA, DLC. it is usually one of those that the DLC is fused through. i encounter this frequently as i do emissions inspections. check the fuses and you should find the culprit there!
