Re: Fuse sign light on when start my car
Hi my name is Allen!
Normally this means you have a fuse blown!
This year model neon had a lot of problems with the instrument cluster circuit boards, its hard for me to say thats what it is without being there to check it.
If this is not causing problems I would just drive it until it comes on all the time then check the fuses again, it could be a fuse thats trying to go bad, you know like a light bulb that will flicker for awhile and then burn out.

Modern electrical issues can only be resolved only after all connections have been determined as clean, dry, and tight. Corrosion can cause voltage drops that will affect sensitive sensors and relays, that will prevent your vehicle from starting. Loose connections and especially an entire fuse box being loose will definitely be part of the problem. Repairs to this need to be done to continue diagnosis.
You have to carry out the dark test on your vehicle. Disconnect your earth cable from the battery. Connect a test light from the neg pole of the battery to the end lead of the test light to the neg terminal wire side to test light so that you have a test light with light on. Wait approx 5 min for the convenience system to shut down. The test light should now glow dim if not start by pulling each fuse out till the test light goes dim. Look at fuse box cover to see which system is staying on. That's were your problem should be.
Using a smaller fuse should make the problem happen more often. A mechanic would unplug the pump harness at the tank and check the circuit for high resistance or a short to ground. If nothing is found in the harness, I would suspect the pump in the tank.
You need to reset the Passlock security system to your Tahoe.
1. Attempt to start the car, let it stall, but DO NOT turn the key off! Leave it in RUN.
2. Wait 10 minutes or until the Theft System light glows steady instead of blinking.
3. Do not turn the key off, but start it immediately.
4. This should reset your Passlock system.
Good luck and thank you for using Fixya.
If that does not work then your may have to do the 30 min relearn. You do basically the 10 min thing with the security light trick instructions above. Here goes this only works if your secuity light is on.
key in ignition don't start the car but you want to turn the key all the
way on and release it back to the on position wait 10 mins or till the
security light stops flashing repeat this the exact same way two more
times( dont take key out) ending in about 30 mins total time. this
should reset the code to the computer and you should have no more
problems with it.
the fuel level gauge just went out na dthats why the light is on. to replace it you have to replace the entire sending unit. cost is $500.00 plus to have replaced. if you can live with it and keep check on your milage, I would wait for the pump to go out.
could be your powertrain control module. Something is draining your battery. I had this problem. Make sure you don't accidentally leave the trunk open (drained 2 batteries this way, then replaced my car with areally expensive battery, but still had a problem. Turned out to be the PCM. IF you have a 2001 2.7L V6, this is located between the air filter housing and the fuse & relay centre. Its that silver heavy duty looking thing strapped in between the air filter housing and the fuse and relay centre. Replacement of this should be done by a qualified mechanic because 1) your airbags will have to be disabled and 2)you will have to make sure that there is no electrostatic discharge - which could damage this little brain system. Good luck
