Hello! This sounds to me like your Heater Matrix is leaking! (inside the vehicle) the smell is probably steaming ani freeze mixed with the damp caused by the leak hence NO warmth from heater. The dealer posibly is fobbing you off as can be a very difficult job.
Even though the leak is happening have you tried a Radiator Seal something like Rad-Weld or Barrs Seal?
Remember to bleed the system to get the air out of the Matrix.
Good Luck and Merry Christmas.

Hello again! The steam build up on your windscreen is possibly due to seepage from the Matrix/Core and unless you replace it with new you will have to try and seal it.

Barr's Seal/Rad Weld works by coating the area of leakage by sealing at it passes through the leak.

The bad smell will hopefully clear when all is dried out as damp in any area isn't a pleasent smell.

You could try de-Humidifying your vehicle after the leak has been stopped? this should help to reduce the odour.

Cheer's and a Happy New year to You and your Family.

Flush clogged heater core

Do you get steam out of the exhaust? Foamy Oil on your oil dip stick? Oil slicks in your water? Overheating? These are all things that could point to a bad gasket. If you smell anti freeze or are getting steam out of your defrost .. that would point to a bad heater core. I base my answer on the assumption when you say no heat you mean your heater is not putting out hot air???

Steam coming out vents haven seen any leaks yet

Hello jgreenley32: My name is Roger and I will help you. Steam from the a/c and defrost vent generally means a leaking heater core. The steam usually has a really sweet sickening smell to it. The longer you run the engine the thicker the steam. The way to tell for sure it is the heater core would be to bypass the heater. To do this just remove the heater hoses from the heater core at the fire wall area. Not sure where they are just follow the hoses from the engine back to the firewall on the passenger side of the truck.Remove the hoses and plug them off or put a splice between them. Start the truck and warm up the engine. If the steam is gone ? Then the heater core is bad and needs replaced. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

There is smoke come in from the heat vents

Are you sure it's smoke? Usualy this is steam from a ruptured heater core. If so you are loosing coolant into the heater ducting and it will eventually overheat. If it is steam from a bad heater core it will smell like anti-freeze.

While driving my 95 explorer i noticed the heater wasnt getting hot its luke warm and when i turn on the defroster i start to smell anti freeze and all of the windows fog up

no heat is probably low coolant or bad thermostat, although you have fog and smell ! the heating and cooling systems are closed systems the only way the windows fog is the coolant is hot and steams inside the car due to some leak inside the heater core box. as well as the smell being present. Now it is possible that a little leak has occured where the coolant supply or return line connects to the heater core and is running into the car which is running onto the core and creating steam and smell. hopefully it is a easy clamp tighten fix for you.

Bad smell from a/c

Do you leave your climate control in the Auto position. This is bad. What happens is the evaporator which is located in the vents never dries out and you begin to grow mold. Does it smell musty, locker room type smell.
Also since it came out the heat vent it could also be a leaking heater core. Check you coolant level and reservior. If low this is an indication heater core is leaking. It may not of leaked enough to tell but usually these are the only reason the vents would smell unless a rodent ended up there and died.

Steaming from back of the engine. no heat. windshield fogs in the inside

If you are loosing coolant and you see water under the car after sitting you have a leak. The most likely area is the heater core as you are getting steam inside the car. If you smell anti freeze that is another confirming item. Check all the hoses and connections first before replacing the core. Good luck.
