Question about 2004 GMC Canyon
I recently got up early one cold day and started my 2004 GMC Canyon crew cab SLE to go to work. I owned the truck about a year,to my surprise I got the Battery warning light on my dash board. I took the truck to a reliable battery warehouse and had the battery replaced with the correct replacement. A few days to a week went by and I thought I had the problem licked. but low and behold about 3 weeks after I got the battery replaced I got the battery warning light again. As of this writing, I have not had time to return to the battery place and do a follow up. The warning light does not come on every time I start the truck but it does so every now and then. Does something need reset? is there a additional problem I am unaware of? or can the new battery be defective? is it the alternator? Can you give me some quick insight into a probable cause? in the intrem, I will have it checked once again by the battery place.Thank You.
I am 99% sure it is the alternator. They are called throw away alternators because dealers are not supposed to rebuild them however I worked at a dealership for over 20 years and rebuilt 100's or more. If you know where an alternator/starter shop is, that would probably be the cheapest way to go instead of buying one.
