SOURCE: 2001 Ford Windstar transmission is leaking fluid

I would have it de-greased thoroughly, make sure fluid is at correct level, then operate it for short drives at operating temperature, checking frequently for the first sign of a leak.Check the cooler lines and the vent, If it is running to hot or over full it will "blow" excess out vent.Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1999 Ford Windstar, idles rough, slow acceleration

sounds like a large vacuum hose was knocked off the engine when they pulled the trans out, have that checked.

SOURCE: 1999 F250 only goes in reverse, no forward gears.

I believe that reverse is operated by a brake band. So it seems to be stuck. It is operated by a piston, and the seal could have swelled and caused too much friction. But you could loosen up the adjustor so that it is disengaged, in order to get forward gears again. Perhaps you can force the piston to retract as well, once you drop the pan again.

SOURCE: 2001 Ford Windstar transmission fluid leak

Sorry!,..More than likely the front seal of the transmission has actually cut a groove into the torque convertor neck.I have seen these hundreds of times, when the van is hot the seal wont hold the fluid pressure behind it and trans fluid will leak past...also the lines/hoses are on the side of this transmission..the vent is located on top of this trans near the main connector,.not in the front(Ax4n).,, seriously go to an accredited trans shop only for this repairATRA......again sorry for the bad new..Bob Stinson

1995 ford windstar starts right up sometimes wont move when i hit the gas it also leaks fluid from somewhere towards the front of the van i put in transmission fluid it starts driving but not for long it...

if it is a auto the fluid is transmission fluid leaking from the oil cooler at the radiator or loose hose so transmission is low on oil thats why it wont drive .have a closer look at where the oil is leaking that will help but filling it up with oil is only a very short term fix .You need a mechanic to check it out if its not a loose plug or cracked hose.

2002 windstar made a loud noise and started smoking underneath the van near the front tires

Have the engine properly inspected as it may be a engine failure due to big end failure causing a hole in the engine block.

Trans starting slipping after modulator replaced

Transmission gear assembly and transmission needs inspection. Also check the transmission fluid level. Also is the fluid getting leaked or its low.

My 2000 ford windstar shouts down by itself

you might have a vacum leak take a can of starting fluid and spray it around the plenum or big black box on top of engine your van will start to hesitate when it sucks the spray into the engine now you can find the leak a little better or you can take the main vacum line off of the break booster and blow smoke into the hose until you see smoke coming out of the bad spot

I have a 2003 ford windstar van. I was driving it and smoke and transmission fluid was flying under the car. When i pulled over the car jerked really hard and I had to get it towed back home. My overdrive...

SOUND LIKE TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE FITTING AT THE RADIATOR EITHER CAME LOOSE OR THE LINE BROKE RUPTURE.IT WOULD THAT LINE TO BREAK TO LEAK OUT ALL TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUID SINCE FLUID UNDER PUMP PRESSURE.FILL TRANSMISSION BACK UP WITH FLUID AND FIND THE LEAK.DONT DRIVE UNTIL LEAK FOUND OR YOU COULD DAMAGE THE TRANSMISSION.

The van will start up and the motor runs but it will not shift into any gear?

First thing you need to do is start the motor and let it warm up to normal operating temperature and then remove the dipstick from the transmission and check the fluid level in the transmission(leave the engine running). If you don't see anything on the dipstick put in transmission fluid for Ford transmission until it reaches the full line. Now if the van moves the you will want to check for and repair any leaks that you have in the transmission, line or transmission oil cooler in front of the rad.

We were driving down the freeway when the ODT light started flashing on our 2000 Ford Windstar. WE pulled over, and it was gushing transmission fluid. Well, we got more fluid, and added it, and the ODT...

I would have the vehicle scanned to find out why the od light was flashing. When the light flashes there will be a diagnostic code stored in the engine computer. It sounds like the transmission overheated for some reason and vented the fluid. By the time you added fluid the transmission and started driving the transmission cooled down and quit leaking.
