The heater lines that run to the back of the right rear side gets rusty and start to leak anti-freeze. There is a black cover under and above the RR tire that has to be removed so u can see.

I struggled with this same problem. It took me almost a year to find out why. Unfortunately, the reason is that Mazda makes 2 versions of the 2000 MPV. One version (like mine & probably yours) is sold in the South (mine was from Florida) & the back blower is connected to the AC only. The other version of course connects to the heater line too. Not sure why any car company would ever come with something so absrd, but Mazda did. Hope this helps!

Rear area of mpv receives cold air but not heat.

That is usually a blend door problem. One of the doors is stuck in the cold position only. Happens a lot after a battery disconnect. Replace the rear blend door and that should solve your problem.

2003 Mazda MPV heater blows heat, then blows normal temp air, then heats and so on. Trying to find what is the problem. The unit is blowing air all the time but the temperature changes within seconds.

Have you checked your antifreeze level? When the vehicle is cool check the level and top it off if its low. Read your manual if you're not sure where to look.

I drained the coolant on my mpv 2000 by loosening the drain plug. Coolant came out but the coolant on the reservoir is not draining. Any thought? thnks

Besides that is usually the case

Have to draw out with turkey baster or remove
the degas bottle & wash out if that is what you want

Changing the coolant has nothing to do with no heat

The thermostat may be stuck open or you have a coolant
valve in the heater system to check out or hvac doors under
the dash that hang up

My 2000 mazda mpv is blowing air into the coolant tank at high revs. removed the thermostat and radiator was cleaned but there is no change

If your getting air into your cooling system, the the most likely cause is a blown head gasket.

I have antifreeze in the reservoir just changed the thermostat and gasket, all the fuses are good and the blower works great on my Mazda MPV year 2000, but I still have no heat only cold air is coming out...

Air lock in cooling system not allowing coolant to circulate through heater core. Need to bleed air or burp air from cooling system. Look for a bleeder valve by the engine side of the upper radiator hose possibly or on radiator.

3 liter mazda mpv overheating

You probably never cleaned the cooling system out.

If you have not get it done by pros.

It seems something is blocking the flow. If the water pump went bad you will know. Rarely ever heard a impeller breaks off like you think. The bearings and the seal break first.

Check and see also if the heater valve is working.

As for the over heating even new thermostats fail. Reverse flush is needed or the procan measure the pressure in the radiator cooling system and edetermine if there is a engine pressure problem. Tools and experience is the key in the game of diagnosis.

Heating problem

The ducting to the left must be fed from the heater box. Yet the blend door must not be sealing allowing the cold air the blend with the hot. Check the blend door mechanism, behind glove box, or some dash panels may need to be removed to access this door.
