It is the pulley on the tensioner. put wrench on the bolt itself and push. the tensioner will move. the fan is hard to remove on those trucks but if you can break it loose first with the belt on it then once it is broke loose remove belt it makes it a lot easier. hope it helped

Use tensioner release tool to loosen belt and pull it off tensioner, paying careful attention to how the belt is routed through all the pulleys.

Changing serpentine belt on 2000 chevy silverado 1500 4.8 v8

The belt has tension applied to it from an idler pulley arm. you need to release tension by using a socket and ratchet on the nut on the idler pulley. Release tesion and slide belt off . Make sure you have the diagram for serpentine belt. it is usualy under the hood. If not make a diagram yorself before removing belt.

Where would I find the tensoner on the sierra 1500 ?? any thoughts Thanks

the serpentine belt tensioner is on the front of the mototr and usually on the left. it is spring loaded and usually require a 3/8" ratchet or 15 mm wrench to release tension and remove the belt. when installing a new serpentine belt, make sure you can read the writing like your holding a book in your hand. if its upside down they have tendency to squeek later.

I need to replace a serpentine belt on a 2001 GMC sierra 4.8L. I see the belt tensioner for the AC belt, but the tensioner for the main belt is less obvious. There is an idler pulley but it does not look...

it is decieving. if the tensioner has an extension of about two inches from the base, it takes a 15 mm to lift it, be easy, make sure the wrench is not going to touch anything as you release it after taking the belt off

How do you install an alternator 95 gmc sierra 1500

1] disconnect the positive battery cable. 2] remove the serpentine belt.  you need a socket wrench to remove the tension from the idler arm pulley. 3]disconnect the battery wire from the alternator, and unclip the other smaller wire from the other side of the alternator. 4] remove the bolts that hold the alternator to the engine. 5]install the new one in the reverse order hope this helps

Serpentine belt popping off

ONE OF THE PULLEYS ARE WORN OUT AND NOT ALIGNED PROPERLY WITH THE OTHERS. LOOK AT THE TENSIONER AND IDLER PULLEYS. ONE OF THESE COULD BE THE CAUSE. REMOVE THE SERPENTINE BELT AND ROTATE THE PULLEYS BY HAND TO SEE WHICH ONE IS EITHER SQUEAKING OR LOOSE ON ITS BEARING. REPLACE THE BAD ONE AND YOU SHOULD BE ALL SET. HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. THANKS FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK

Replacing serpentine drive belt on 1995 BMW 328i

This just MIGHT help. I hope so.
German cars usually have one item on the route of the serpentine belt that is adjustable.
Traditionally, the way this is adjusted is with a long threaded shaft like a screw, and on that shaft is a lock device to lock the adjustment of the adjusted accessory.
Many times, it is the alternator that is adjustable.
You would loosen the locking clamp, then turn the nuts on the threaded rod, and as you move the part (alternator, for example) towards the engine, the belt will loosen.
Replace the belt and then tighten the nuts and tighten the lock.
God bless your efforts.
