The brake light switch is mounted directly over the brake pedal; where the pedal pivots.
The graciousness of a FixYa rating would be greatly appreciated.

My Toyota 4 runner 2004 hatchback will not open and motor on lock not turning over when I squees the handle. We replaced the hatchback motor and its in safe mode. How do we get it out of safe mode?

Safe mode is linked to the park brake switch and in many cars and light Utility vehicles the transmission range selector, you will need a scanner to see what exactly is the cause of hatch switch lockout.

Can a diagnostic connector on 1995 Toyota 4 runner be jumped over with jumper wire to get check engine codes?

There is probably a way to access codes by using a jumper and causing the engine checklight or an integral led to flash in groups. I can't say which pin or pins need jumping.

I suggest you ask the question of google and click on the youtube video.

@lorettotel.net1995 toyota 4 runner....automatic trans...will not go into gear...stuck in park...any ideas

Check to see if the brake lights come on when applied, you could have a bad brake switch which operates the **** solenoid to let you take it out of park.

Looking to buy a '95 toyota 4 runner. when test

Yes, Bill you are wise to be worried. It may be a simple fix and it may cost over $1,000 to repair. Walk away from this vehicle. There are plenty more out there without this type problem.

'96 Toyota 4-Runner makes a loud squealing noise and brake light

Sounds like one of the auxillary belts slipping it may just need tightening up. I think the 4-Runner has two belts one large and one for the steering pump

Have 95 toyota 4 runner, need to replace brake pedal switch, where do i start? where is it?

The rubber foot pad of the brake pedal is on a steel rod or frame. On the opposite end of the frame, from the foot pad is where the switch will be. You should be able to see it if you look under the dash with a flashlight. They can be tricky, since they have to be mounted properly in order to make contact with the brake frame and they're never easy to get a wrench around.
