How to tell if your 2000 Jetta gls vr6 need struts? My car squeeks when I driving and If I push down on the hood.

After ten years your are sure to need a new suspension. The way you cantell the shocks are gone is you'll see signs of fluid leaking from the inside of the top onto the outsides of the inner bottom. A couple of jacks and the right wrenches will be pretty easy for even a novice mechanic. Two to four hours your done, it will also increarse the cars hoursepower and preformance.

It could be a vacuum leak. Really hard to diagnose with just this amount of info. Important items are outside temp. and frequincy of the problem.

Locate the starter on the back of the engine between the motor and the transmission,Take a hammer and lightly tap on the starter while someone trys to start the engine if it is the starter and one or two starts are left it will start.
If your are planning on taking it to the shop be prepared to go if it starts, you may not get another chance.

Do you mean the starter does not turn ? or do you mean the engine does not turn ? If the starter does not turn, it is either the starter or the battery, if the engine turns over but does not wants to run, than you have a glow plug problem.

2000 Jetta Tdi Cold start

I do believe soem 2000 Jetta TDI's came with block heaters. Normally a heater of this type you plug in is to keep the oil warm. This will not keep the block very warm and will not decrease the amount of time it takes to heat up.

If you want the car and the heater to get warmer quicker, you should invest in a "Zerostart coolant heater". There are company's that sell these with all of the hoses, bolts, and clamps needed for a quick installation. If you can change brake pads, you can install this.

I currently have this installed on my TDI and have it plugged into a timer. It comes on about 2 hours before I leave in the morning. It electrically heats the coolant and thermosiphons the coolant through the block. I am now able to immediately begin defrosting the windshield at start up.
