On three previous occassions, car stopped running when I slowed down/parking and later responded when left for a while. However, it finally stopped few days ago and couldn't start again. The key was rolling but not running the engine.

Are you sure it's in park did you try pushing the car the shifter cable most likely streched so it's not going all the way in park there is a neutral safty switch that only allows the car to start in park and neutral try holding the shifter into park while trying to start the car
Mazda do not make distributors or electrical connectors . These parts are made for mazda to mazda specifications by electrical manufacturers / contractors . So being aware of that it is possible (long process) to get the name on the distributor to Lucas-Nippon denso -nitto -Mitsubishi-( Mitsubishi make for a lot of different car makers as oem equipment) etc and any other details stamped into the body of the distributor or ignition module and contact them on the web site at the technical section or parts section and try and track down from there. Another way that I sometimes use is to cruise the wreckers (mazda in this case ) and look for distributors from other engines that will have this part in use as there is always a parts over lap where new products are fitted to the run out models before the new model is on the market
You mean they cannot retrieve the codes for you? Mazda Trouble Codes OBD1 2CarPros . This site will tell you all about it and give code descriptions. For the stalling, look into the computer controlled idle valve or motor. It may need cleaning or have it checked at any rate.
The butterfly at the air intake may be dirty. If at all possible remove the breathers leading to this and clean the butterly with carbuerator cleaner or something like it. There may be deposits and it is not breathing good.
what won't work? the interior fan or is all else well except the cooling part? if the compressor does not come on, then perhaps you need to refill gas. in the very front of the car under the hood, you remove the plastic covers where the hood opener is, and you will see some pipes & a canister. on top of this canister there is a clear small round site glass, you can check there for gas if you have dye, or you can unscrew the cap over the refill nipples and depress with you finger nail, air (gas) should blow out under good pressure, not a little only. there is also a fuse you can check situated in the same place, this is for the compressor
