2004 Honda accord Sedan - Mirror, actuator and cap replacement
I need to replace the mirror actuator and cap on the right rear view mirror on my 2004 Honda Accord sedan.
Honda sells the mirror, actuator and cap at half the price of an entire assembly. I need to know the steps for removing the existing broken mirror and replacing the new parts. The actuator appears to be connected by a series of screws but the screws do not appear to be typically phillips or slotted type screws. Do I need a special screwdriver or drive bit to remove the actuator? The broken mirror has 2 movable, threaded, white plastic connectors/positioners attached to the back of it. Do I need these or will they come as a part of the new mirror or actuator? If I need to use the old ones how do I connect them? They appear to fit into a covered hole or port but seem to movable to align properly. Are there any special tips or tricks that I need to be aware of before I start the job? Thanks for your help. Jim

Behind the mirror on the inside of the door there will be a triangular shape piece of plastic, gently pry the plastic from the door, now that it is removed you will see a multi electrical plug for the mirror if you have electric mirrors, seperate the plug. look in the small holes in the door where the plastic cover was removed and you should see 2 or 3 bolt heads, remove those bolts and the mirror should now be free to remove from the vehicle
to replace JUST the mirror glass, goto www.burcoinc.com On the left click on 'redi cut'. Under "redi cut" click on 'Installation'. At the right, I believe you mirror type is 'Snap Fit/ Drop Fit'.
This shows HOW to replace the mirror, to GET the mirror you will have to check with your local glass shop or dealership. (I don't think Burco will sell to you directly) Just make sure it is AUTO mirror, See FMVSS-111 on Burco's web site.
If you need to replace the entire mirror head assembly...it is held on with 3 bolts located under the door panel. HTH
Tray its pretty easy look at trim panel look for little caps under the caps are screws take the screw out the mirror cap off take the switshes out and pull out the bottom of door and then the sides and your in their if you need any more info go collsionrepairadvice.com
