Question about 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

Chevrolet cavelier 1994

My car has the key stuck int he egnition for approximately one month. Now that the weather has changed the car does does come on except the light when strating the car. everything shows up on the dash board when starting the car. I thought it did not start up because of the weather being cold. We try to charge it but it would not still charge up and start.

Same problem here. Battery is charged and all dummy lights come on. Key won't come out of ignition and car will not turn over. Hoping it's only the locking cylinder and/or ignition switch as opposed to the starter. Anyone else come across this problem?

My car wouldn't start when it was cold. Turn the key to the start position but nothing. Now that it has warmed up my car will start but I have to hold the ignition key half way between the start and the run position to keep the car running and all the accessories working. If I let go of the key the spring returns the key to far and shuts the car off.

I spoke with someone else who thought it might be the locking cylinder since he had the same problem with a GM car, but his car would turn over and start, it just wouldn't stop running. Since I can't get the key out of the ignition, do you think I need to replace both? Thanks for your help.

Hi there your problem sounds like the ignition switch is faulty. This is the switch on the steering column under the dash.
