Question about 1996 Toyota Camry

2 Answers

Electrical issues I have a couple of issues with my electrical system. I have a 1996 Camry LE 2.2L. They are: 1. My car sometimes will not turn over. I can turn the key and nothing will happen, then other times it starts right up. I can jump it off and it will start right up, then I can park it, turn it off, and try to restart it and nothing. 2. I was driving down the road the other day, and when I turned my headlights on the car completely died. No lights, no engine, no radio, nothing. I turned the lights off and it started right back up. I got home and tried it again sitting in front of my house and everything worked perfectly. I have a new battery, but I think it is something in my electrical system. Any and all help greatly appreciated. Thanks

1.) You need to have the contacts in the starter replaced; or, replace the starter. Common problem.

2.) You either have a loose alternator belt, or a bad alternator.

I see these conditions all of the time.

Thnaks for choosing FixYa for the solution to your problem.

94 Toyota Camry ignition lock cylinder issues

The problem of the car dying should be unrelated to the worn key and ignition barrel, as the electrical contacts only depend on the key turning, which it does.

The car may have -

- a vacuum leak somewhere in the intake tract. Look for a split in the big flexible coupling after the air cleaner

- insuffiicient fuel pressure. This might be a blocked filter, pinched fuel line (from a rock), failing pump, or a faulty overpressure release valve in the fuel rail. Get a fuel pressure gauge connected to the fuel rail and see what it reads.

My Toyota Camry LE 1998 blowup ignition fuse 5a anytime I turn the keys on

First of all NEVER replace a fuse with one of a bigger size. By doing this you have probably fried some wiring in the ignition system. There is a major issue with your electrical system. You shold call a tow truck as it sounds like you don't know much about electricity, not being mean, just honest.

1996 camry le 6 cylinder. cannot get ignition key to turn to start car. gear is in park and have tried adjusting steering wheel

Hi the steering lock could be causing you the problem try turning the steering wheel hard left whilst turning the key and do the same hard right.

it may be hard to turn but you should find once you have moved it slightly it will unlock allowing you to turn the key so dont adjust the steering wheel turn it to the right as if your trying to turn to the right and if this dont let the key turn turn the wheel to the left it only needs to move slightly to allow the steering lock to free the key,

doing the above should solve you problem

give me a shout back if you have any further problems ok
