Mil light, OBD system 11,

The engine computer has detected a fault in one of the engine sensors or controllers or switches that it controls. The fault is what trips the light to on, and sets a trouble code in its memory. To get the code, you have to hook up an OBD-II code reader or scanner. When the mil light stays on, it means the fault is still present.
Temperature change should have no effect on the computer or its engine management. Occasionally, computers have been known to set false codes, but rarely. Have the computer scanned to see what trouble codes you get.

My vw jetta 98 turns but wont start and also read the obd code p1582 0103 1613 and 1580

P1582- Idle Adaptation At Limit
0103- I believe is a MAF code and that is your air sensing system. could be not getting enough air. this one is not on the list.
P1613- MIL Call-Up Circuit Open/Short To Positive
P1580- Throttle Actuator B1 Malfunction

Here is the link I go the codes from so if you need it for future reference.

What are the cause of a mil light on 2002 vw jetta- how cna one diagnosi this under the hood? can cold weather be a cause and can this correct itslef

Check the MIL code to see what exactly is the problem. For instance, it may be an O2 sensor that has been damaged in the cold.
Please read the following link. It is a great source to troubleshoot MIL codes.

Volkswagen Diagnostic Trouble Codes
DTC Table - General

From model year 1996, vehicles manufactured for the North American market are equipped with a Government required diagnostic system known as On-Board Diagnostics II (OBD II). This system monitors operation and function of all engine management system activity and automatic transmission operation to insure compliance with specified emission levels.

Vehicle emission levels are constantly monitored by the OBD II system and malfunctions are recognized and recorded. A Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) in the instrument cluster alerts the driver to the fault and the need to have the system checked for fault codes. These codes follow a standard format and are known as Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

DTCs are assigned two codes. The first code is a numerical code assigned by the factory. The second code is referred to as a P-code and follows a structure required by law and defined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). This standard uses a letter to designate the system and four numbers to further identify and detail the malfunction as listed below.

We recently replaced a glowplug on our 2003 VW Jetta tdi. We had to disconnect the power source. Since then, the door alarm wont stop ringing. We can't find the factory reset code. Can you help? Oh, it has...

Removing the battery connection for this procedure will cause diagnostic trouble codes to be stored in the engine control module. Erasing these DTCs and resetting the readiness code will require Volkswagen scan tool VAG1551/1552 or equivalent. The same results will occur when disconnecting engine management components while the key is in the on position. Some driveability problems may be noticed until the system re-adapts to operating conditions. OBD II readiness codes, which may be required for emissions testing, may also be erased. Convenience electronics (alarm systems, interior light control, power locks, mirrors, and windows) may need to be re-set using a VAG 1551/1552 or equivalent sacan tool.

Wat are the engine codes for golf gt tdi

There are hundreds of engine codes, any of which can be stored in the On Board Computer. You can Google V.W OBD Codes and see these.
However if your car has a fault code and the Yellow MIL light is on....You will require a code scan to determine the cause

2008 Jetta MIL light just went on. What does this

when the MIL/SES light is turned on by the on board computer (known as the PCM) it is alerting u to the fact that a system within the electronically controlled engine fuel injection or the emission system has go out of normal opertional limits, there are over 200 such faults poss and a fault code is set in the memory of the computer when the light was turned on, u will need to have the OBD 2 electronic control system tested for the code, most Kragens and Autozone parts stores do this for free, excluding California

1999 vw jetta check engine light on

Do you mean the OBD II connector? If your car is an early 99 then it's a MKIII and it's located under a little door on the dash under the heater controls HERE. IF it's a late 99 model then it's a MKIV and it's under the dash at the far left corner, just above the hood release lever.
