Question about 1994 Hyundai Excel

1 Answer

Clutch grinds Yesterday my fiance was driving our car and when he went to go in reverse it started to grind. Also, when he first went to put it in first gear, it grinded again. I was wondering what could cause this problem? Could it because of the cold, could it be because of low transmission fluid, or what else could it be because?

the place where you would put it is off the fire wall (near the back of the engine) there should be a place that says clutch fluid. If it is not moving after you put the fluid in that your trany is shot. But you should (after putting fluid in give it a few monents than start moving the clutch through the gears to get it all lubed up it many take a few more minutes to get it moving around if it is completly dry).

Sounds like it's time for a new clutch or transmission. Take it to a mechanic you trust for a quick test to determine the issue.

Grinding

Usually reverse does not have synchroniser , so it's normal if the first gear is going in ok.
If you have problem to shift into first gear , then it might be a problem with clutch or clutch hydraulics.

Cant shift? reverse grinds? and pressure in clutch is low

What you describe sounds very much like the clutch is failing to disengage.
Fluid level being fine and no leaks under the car is good, but doesnt mean there isnt something wrong with either the master cylinder, slave cylinder, or the associated parts.

Highly unlikely there is a fault with the flywheel or clutch as failures with these would normally give no drive in any gear.

no doubt your clutch has gone again, possibly the slave cylinder.
