Check engine light

When I went outside to start my Jaguar X-Type it was cold outside. I was in a hurry and didn't let the car warm up properly. It jumped a bit then the check engine light came on along with a message that said No cruise control. The no cruise light came off but my check engine light is still on. Any suggestions as to what it may be?

Please disregard the last commet you got about a false signal. If there is one thing that works right on the jaguar it is the info center unfortantly. my jag has the same problem and i let it warm up for 3 -5 min in addition to that it makes a whinning noise while it is cold. just to give you an idea on how i take care of my cars i have ran nothing but synthetic and go above and beyond. i have followed the owners manuel above and beyond its requirements and still my car is riddled with problems i also own an 04 s60 2.5 turbo a i have 60k on it which is 12 k more than the jag and i have ran this car in the hottest weather of arizonia and florida and has never missed a beat. My spouse and i never think jaguar for long trips for we are afraid that we will be stranded

Did you find out what the problem was. I have an X-type 03 with 64,000miles and I had the exact problem and I get a whinning in the cabin while driving in 10degree weather.

I just had this kind of problem two days ago, I had my jag towed to my mechanic and what went wrong was the ignition coils and the spark plugs... now my car runs great once more!!! Jags are not a big fan of cold weather and non-top of the line gas, oil etc...

It is most likely to be a false code, but to be on the safe side go to your dealer and have the codes read, cleared and reset,

2.0d x-type 2005 Est. Starting problems when engine is warm

Ok, time for car school. The vehicle is operated by the computer, every electrical concept that is. When the engine is cold, it starts fine because the computer has placed it in "cold start mode", putting more fuel into the engine than normally would until Once the engine is warmed up, a temperature sending unit or temp sensor tells the computer to change to normal run mode. IF said temp sensor is faulty and is not telling the computer to make said change, it stays in cold start mode, still dumping excess fuel in the engine that is now not required, cause it's warmed up. Like keeping the choke closed on older vehicles. Now I think you can answer your own question, when this no start action is happening after warm up and it always starts fine when cold, what's the first thing you check ? Right, the unsuspected temp sensor. Change that and no more start problem. Have a wonderful day. Glad I could be of service.

Smoke after starting cold

According to Jaguar, the engine has a heater fitted inside the engine which automaticly switches on when you start the engine and switches of at a pre-determaned time, this expells steam from underneath the car, and considered as normal.
Therf are other answers in the Jaguar forum, take a look there. I have the same effect with my X-Type.
