Question about 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

2002 ford sport trac, will not go into gear. only after trying for 5 - 10 minutes it will finally release and got into gear.

These are usually interlocked with the brake. I'm not sure about where the switch would be for that but the brake must be pressed to put it into gear.

My gears in my manual transmission are becoming harder to change. Plus my third gear grinds everytime ou try and get into third.


Sounds like the clutch is not fully disenguaging,clutch probably needs to be replaced and it should clear up all concerns.

It should say it on the fuse box cover. Unless you dont have the fuse box cover anymore.

try changing your tranny fluid and in the torque converter. if that does not help check torque converter and clutch plates

2007 Ford Explorer Sport-Trac automatic trans shift lever release.


Most common is a failing brake light switch. If the brake lights don't come on when the shifter is stuck and they work when the shifter works you need a new switch.
