This an interlock system to preventing car from being in any gear but park to start, it work off a switch on your brake pedal, it should unlock when the brake is depressed. If not a bad fuse, a bad switch, or a bad solenoid on shiftlock.

there is an emergency manual by pass, usually close to your shifter there should be a small cover about the size for a key, remove the cove and insert a key there and it should release. these exact instructions should be in your owners manual also.

Which fuse to change for steering wheel lights and gear shifter lights 2010 ford edge

It's not a fuse , the SJB - smart junction box controls these lights ! This is fords body control module . If the Heater / A/C control panel ,hazard switch ,headlamp switch , message center switch all work, it is not a fuse . The gear shifter I would say the bulb is burnt out . The steering wheel lights could be out because of an open in the clock spring . The clock spring is a device inside the steering column under the steering wheel that keeps your horn , cruise control , radio buttons etc... connected electrically . How cars clock spring works

How to disconnect the air bag dash light. It stays on all the time. 1995 dakota

Don't know of any method to turn the light off except for repair of the following:
I believe what has happened is: While the column was disconnected from the steering gear someone, even by accident, has turned the wheel (from center), in either direction, more than it normally would when connected. This has damaged or broken the "clocking spring". It may also have damaged the cruise connections. These are located in the steering wheel, under the air bag. The clocking spring tells the system the relative position of the wheel which determines if it is safe to fire the bag, in the event of an accident severe enough to activate the system. This is a complicated repair, and should done by a qualified mechanic.

02 focus 1.6 zetec se has devolped a missfire/shudder at 2 or 3 positions on accelleration in all gears but is fine once speed is steady

Hi.

You should do a diagnostic with a scan tool first.

Probably an ignition coil problem. Replace it and replace also the spark plugs.

Cruise control 2001 dodge dakota

You may have a problem with the rotating contact under the steering wheel, this is the common cause of this problem, this part is called the clockspring contact because of what it looks like, a old fashioned clock spring.
