Question about 1994 Dodge Caravan

Van starts but immediately kills

This morning I turned the key and everything went dark. Turning on the headlamps made a buzzing sound but gave no light. After a moment, regular power appeared to come back, all the lights and gauges were on, and the ignition turned over starting the car but it would kill after about two seconds. I did this a few times to see if it would catch but nothing.

First thing is to check is all your battery connections and make sure they are clean & tight. Loosen them, pull them off & clean & re-install & tighten. Make sure belt didn't come off. If battery is dead, you'll need a boost or a charge. Shut all accessories off. Once it starts, and you pull cables off, see if it runs on it's own, and get back to us.

Sounds like the Gas filter. Fairly easy fix. Locate gas tank. Follow gas line to engine, about half way usually by back door under the car, drivers side, is the small filter. Take a pic of it. Head over to car parts store. Show them what you need. It only takes a wrench and a bucket to catch a little gas.

Hello

It sounds strange but, there is a single belt that turns most of those things. When the belt gets wet it no longer has the ability to turn the pullys. Sometimes they slip off all together and that it what this sounds like. Raise the hook, and with a flashlight look at the passenger side of the engine. See if you find a belt hanging down there. If not, have some one start the van and make sure everything is turning. If it is, then it will only be a matter of time before things warm up, dry off, and work again.

Best of luck

The way to approach this sreies of issues is to first remove the remote start/alarm from the equation and restore the vans electrical system back to original. From there, if it persists, we can do more trouble shooting. Let me know and I can walk you through the process. This is definately a problem that does require a diagnostician. Thank you for the level of detail you provided!

Headlamps on when cars off and kills the battery

Likely either the delay module or the relay has gone bad and is sticking on. Till you find it and get it replaced you can pull the headlight fuse (in underhood fuse box) to prevent the battery form going dead.

Engine start problems

the problem could be the starter, battery, battery cables, or alternator. the clicking could most likely be the starter going bad if not bad already or the battery weak or bad battery cables, if you have good power to everything else radio headlamps and heater the i would start by replacing starterlet me know what you find.
