The check engine light is because all check engine light codes are caused by components that affect emissions. It's not actually an engine problem, it's a problem with either your O2 sensor, MAF sensor, fuel/air ratio, pyrometer, or exhaust.

it acelerates ok but when you are stopped at a light it starts to idle rough and when the gas tank get to a quarter of a tank the check engine light flashes and when you fill it up it stops flashing and the check engine light just stays on. will check the codes
I had my oil changed, and the also suggested I have a fuel filter installed. Now my car dies repeatedly when starting or idling (at a stop light) or when I am slowing down for a turn, etc. After it runs for a while it is okay - until next start. The engine light came on prior to the engine service. The code was for the thermostat, which was replaced just after the service job. The engine light is still on - now car is running rough and terrible. It was running fine (except thermostat) before all this. What's up?
just started for me too. no check engine lite, though. i am due for an oil change....it feels like it will stall when I slow down below 10 mph, i have a bit over 1/4 tank of gas
it stalls taking off
2001 Mazda MVP: I was having problems with my turning signals and had to return the vehicle three time suntil it was finally fixed but two days later the check engine light came on which it normally does if the gas level is low. But I filled the tank and rove it for a day until light went off but came right back on. Drives fine but when I stop for lights or long periods the engine seems like it's working hard to stay on causing the car to move forward. I don't just want to take it back to the dealer until I know what it might be because of the turning signal situation. I need suggestions to give these guys I see.
