Try disconnecting your cpu (three plugs next to your air cleaner). this will reset your on board computer. If it happens again, ice it (keep it dry) to keep it cool until you can get it looked at. A microswitch may be the root of this problem.

Engine will not fire. Code no bu5 shows on odometer panel. No gauges are working, however have all interior power. Replaced battery because had dead cell or!!!

Check the PCM connections, it may be that the computer or PCM is BAD since its not sending any data to display, be sure to check all connections to the PCM and any electrical connections that are visible by the engine compartment and under the dash.

My 99 dodge durango has a 'no bu5' code on the mileage abd it wont start at all. how do i fix this?

No bus message on the instrument cluster mean's there is a serial data bus problem . All the module's (computers) on your vehicle are connected on the CCD data network . They share information on the network . A shorted bus wire , a module malfunctioning an bring down the network can cause modules not to send and receive data which would cause a no start .

My 1999 Dodge Durango cranks strongly but doesn't turn over. What could be the problem? I was told it could be the crankshaft sensor at worse.

Is there a check engine light on? The mechanic can check the trouble code to see what it is. It could be that your fuel pump stopped working, a bad fuse, did you check them, or your cars computer (brain) stopped working. Was there any problems before it went dead, symptoms?

Is it safe to drive my 1999 dodge durango while the check engine light is on

When it finds a problem in the electronic-control system that it can't correct, the computer turns on a yellow warning indicator that's labeled "check engine," "service engine soon" or "check powertrain." Or the light may be nothing more than a picture of an engine, known as the International Check Engine Symbol, perhaps with the word "Check." In addition to turning on the light, the computer stores a "trouble code" in its memory that identifies the source of the problem, such as a malfunctioning sensor or a misfiring engine. The code can be read with an electronic scan tool or a diagnostic computer, standard equipment in auto repair shops.

Its always better to get it checked as soon as possible..For time now you can drive...

What is the problem when it says no bus or no bu5 not sure which it is but it pops up where the mileage is and the check engine light comeson

Next time that check engine light comes on stop at auto zone or advance auto and ask them to read the codes from your ECM. That will tell you where the problem is.

1999 dodge Durango. Check engine light comes on

maybe, fill battery cells with water if needed if not get a new one, if light continues to come on it could just be a small electrical short that will not affect your performance and you will probably never find the cause but i have had this occur in a couple cars i have owned even after taking it in to several mechanics to find the cause after spending hours of looking for myself if there's no code and no change in performance forget about it and put a smiley face sticker over it

Dodge Durango 1999

I have a 99 dodge 1500 that had the exact same problem. It was the speed sensor on the rear end mounted on the top side near the pinion gear. It is an easy repacement part. After removing the retainer and wire clip it pulls out.
