2001 volvo v40 heater not working when traveling at higher speeds

On a trip yesterday the heater in my car would not work when traveling on the interstate. the engine indicator even showed the engine temp decreasing. when i would stop the heat would start and the engine temp would increase. knowing nothing about cars (except the guess that this isn't normal. ha, yes i know...sheer genius!) i can only make random assumptions about the issue. by the way, winters in indiana are not fun!

thanks in advance

The lights have stopped working on the heater controls on my V40. 2001 with auto A/C. Can i repair it or do I need to buy the complete unit.

The lights are just small replaceable bulbs, so to repair just replace the bulbs. It will be much cheaper and it helps save the planet. Perhaps it would be best when buying the bulbs from the Volvo parts desk to ask about the best way of accessing the dead ones. It used to be that the knobs would pull off and the facia would be easy to remove. I confess that my detailed knowledge in this specific area only really applies to the older Volvos

The rear lhs indicator has stopped working on my Volvo V40 2001. I have replaced the bulb and it still doesn't work. Does anyone know if there are any common faults or easy repairs for said problem.

Location for lighter fuse v40 volvo 2001

There should be a guide in the manual, or a diagram in the fuse box lid to point out witch fuse goes where.
Lighters use a fair bit of power, so i would look for a 20A fuse or higher.

Volvo V40 heater does not work properly

First check if you have enough coolant in your car. If it's low, it might not reach your system. When the engine is off it should be just under MAX.
