It vaires with model, but if you have 25 at idle hot it is ok, if it is about 40 at freeway speeds it is good to go.

SOURCE: Chevy 350 - oil pressure drops at high RPMs

good evening and welcome to fixya
sounds like you might have an issue with your oil pump losing pressure. if there are no rattles knock or clangs and the engine is not burning oil, make sure to check the dipstick for signs of a glittery metal substance that could be signs also of the engine having issues then the pump is probably your issue. there is a spring inside the pump that you can actually take out and change for a heavier spring that would actually stop this but it is easier to swap in a new oil pump. i do have one question for you though, is this correct an s-10 blazer with a 350 in it? if so has the engine been built at all or is it stock? once you swap the pump go back to running a 10w 40 oil the motor will run better on that and easier, yes your right though the heavier oil does help but if everything is good then it will hender power unless the engine is fairly well built. let me know and i will help you solve your issue. thnak you

How to clean out the passages and oil sender on a chevy sb 350

If the engine runs it could be a bad engine or the oil pump. If the engine cranks but doesn't run check the distributor drive gear as it also drives the oil pump. I hope this helps. Take care.

1999 suburban gage oil pressure is 0 when it warms up. rpm drop to 3-4 rpm when oil pressure goes to 0. Sounds good, runs excellent -no noise. Actually it sound better then most new cars. It is so...

I looked at info for 1500--5.7L engine.
6 psi @ 1000 rpms
18 psi@2000 rpms
24 psi @ 4000 rpms

Sometimes, you can use analog gage in place of oil pressure sending unit and double check oil pressure that way. If oil pressure is actually low, if high mileage engine, I doubt replacing oil pump will help. I just wanted to add, check oil pressure engine warmed up.

1999 JIMMY OIL PRESSURE drops with RPMs after warm

Normal is 10w30.
If the oil pressure gauge is correct, my guess would be worn engine bearings and / or oil pump.

I have a 1976 buick regal 350 engine and the oil light comes on when the engine gets hot and it is at an idle. when you give it gas the light goes out. could this be the oil sending unit and if so where is...

it might be the sending unit, is it a buick 350 or a chevy. 350? if a buick engine the sinding unit should be on the side of the timing cover if a chevy 350 next to the dist.

remove the oil sinding unit and install a manuel gauge and see just what the oil pressure is if below 10 psi at hot idle replace the bearings and oil pump in the engine. if this is a chevy 350 make sure you replace the camshaft bearings this is were we use to see the gratest oil pressure loss.

Low oil pressure on 2001 Suburban

your oil sensor comes on at less than ten psi, you may have internal engine damage how many miles on engine, any gum up inside engine, you can try to put on a high pressure high volume melling oil pump to try to help for the time being, but you may need to have it torn and repaired.

yes, my Chevy Suburban did the same thing. i had to re haul the internals. it was time. the rings were in bad condition. i had massive blow by. in your case, you could grab a few more miles by replacing the rings but, i would re haul if possible.
