Ford 1993 F250 Front brakes. Cronic sticking caliper problem.

I bought this truck new in 1993 and always have had a problem with the brakes sticking every 20,000 miles or so. Usually after replacing everything, all is well for awhile, then gradually the wheels begin to turn harder and hotter, then the whole begins to seize up. Why does this happen? The first time it happened was in 1996, when the truck was out of warranty, and then aprox . every 20,000 miles thereafter.

I have yet to actually wear out the lining or the roters. The whole thing burns up before it even gets close.

Try a diferent brand of calipers and better brake fluid

Testimonial: "Thanks for the advise Adan. Many people have advised that My master cylinder in bad, or that the brake lines are obstructed, but right after I replace everything the whole thing works perfectly for at least 10,000 miles, the calipers turn freely and release properly. I'm beginning to feel a lot of resistance now and replaced the fluid but it hasn't helped. It's in the calipers (double piston) and I can't figure what happens to them."

SOURCE: stuck calipers

Brake lines are not releasing fluid back to master cylinder. Open bleeder and see if wheel will turn. If it does replace brake line to caliper

SOURCE: front brakes are sticking on

Ok Have you recently replaced the pads? Do they act normal after they cool down? Are the pads in good condition, pads that are so worn that the caliper pistons come out beond their normal limit may stick there due to excessively worn pads. If so make sure they are at least factory grade quality Good are bendix, the only thing that can cause your symptoms is a bad master cylinder because it affects BOTH front calipers equally if it was a caliper it is likely to affect only ONE. Let me ask you this happens after driving in heavy traffic or after along drive?
If So there have been countless cases of boiling brake fluid, Old Brake Fluid gathers moisture and its boiling point is lowered, Fluch out ALL the old brake fluid and have new put it.

also is there any chance even the slightest chance that something other than brake fluid even a drop or two is enough to do damage. has been added to the master cylinder at any time? If so you need to replace EVERY PART IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM INCLUDING THE ABS CONTROLLER THAT HAS ANY RUBBER PIECES IN IT CALIPERS HOSES WHEEL CYLINDERS,MASTER CYLINDER just for your information.
I believe you have a bad master cylinder but do not buy a rebuilt one only bran new and preferably from the dealer.
Please contact me if you need more help and would you give me a good rating if you feel my information is helpful.
Thank you ,Randy

SOURCE: Right front wheel/disc brake? heat up

most likely a brake line causing problem. it is either the rubber hose or caliper sticking. the rubber hose will collapse and cause pressure to stay on the caliper

Ford bronco troubleshooting

Dear Shawna;
Yes.
I have had this problem with several vehicles.
The first cure was new rubber hoses to the calipers, as the old ones, (only 5 years old from the factory) were collapsing inside, and not allowing the brake fluid to return toward the master cylinder.
The second was sticking pistons inside the caliper.
Your Bronco is old enough to warrant a really close inspection of the left front caliper, sounds like the piston is sticking, from rust, dirt, corrosion, or over-extension.
(Over-extension is where the pads wore down so far the piston extended too far out or the caliper bore to retract when the brakes were released.)
God bless your efforts.

Replace front brake disc on 1997 ford f250 4x4

remove tire, loosen and remove caliper 2 bolts on rear side of caliper, usually a allen/torque wrench or a standard wrench if u got all 3 ur good, fully remove caliper disc slides right off studs, new caliper will be thicker, which requires the piston behind the pad to be moved in, u can use a large c lamp be very careful while tightening down on piston not to brake it usually lay something across the piston put the clamp on that piston must go in far enough to allow pad to slide over new disc good luck its easy and pretty self explanitory

1993 f250 7.3 diesel - hard pedal, hard to stop,

Check front calipers, caliper should "float" to be self centering. If the caliper is stuck only the inside pad is pushing on the rotor instead of the caliper pinching the rotor. You will need to remove the caliper from the assembly, there are usually rubber boots to keep out the dirt and water from the slide pins, they are ofter cracked/broken or missing altogether. You may need a small torch and some rustbuster to get things moving again.
