Question about 2001 Isuzu Rodeo

1 Answer

I had a slight accident today with my 2000 Isuzu Rodeo I hit a guard rail head-on, no airbags were deployed I was only going 20 mph and lost control on a snow covered road. The car stalled out and when I tried to restart it the "reduced power" light was on and I had no power. The car was running but when you stepped on the gas, nothing. Can you help me figure out how to get it going again?

We had two separate accidents involving a deer the airbags never deploy in neither collision. How do i disconnect them?

They didn't deploy cause you hit a deer, the airbags sensors need to get a gforce reading to deploy, hitting a deer ksnt enough to do it

2013 Volkswagen Beetle airbags did not deploy in my accident

The airbag technology uses many factors when deploying. If it doesn't see the need, they won't pop out at you possibly injuring you more than the small accident. When I was clipped on my rear corner and spun me around in the intersection, they didn't pop. But a head first hit popped them. The primary sensor is behind the front bumper

My air bag didnt deploy in an high speed accident

FRONT airbags only work(deploy)when hit from a direct front ender, not offset,if they went off on an offset front end it would rip your head off as it twisted your neck.

Airbag locations

In the steering wheel and passenger side dash.Due to the age of the vehicle probably doesn't have the curtain "side" airbags. The airbags were designed primarily for head on collisions. Here is some useful information to why the may have not deployed courtesy of http://www.asashop.org/autoinc/dec2001/collision.htm
How Air Bags Work To have a frontal (driver or passenger) air bag deploy, certain criteria must be met. One of these criteria is that the frontal impact must be within a 60-degree window, occurring within 30 degrees from the vehicle's centerline. Another key element is that the crash forces are equivalent to a head-on collision with an immovable barrier at 10-15 miles per hour. Because a typical automobile accident only lasts about 0.125 (1/8th) of a second, air bags deploy within 15 to 20ms after the initial crash impact. To create a protective cushion between the occupant and the vehicle's interior, the air bag inflates at speeds up to 200 mph within approximately 30ms after impact. This allows the occupant to contact a fully inflated bag within approximately 45 to 50ms after the initial crash impact. Approximately 100ms after impact the bag deflates.

Airbags did not deploy when we rearended the car in front at 30mp

First, I hope you and any occupants are OK.

Could be a faulty sensor (unlikely), Did you have any error codes before the accident? If so they could have been for the airbags for whatever reason. The impact might not have been hard enough (Yeah I know 30mph).

Airbags are deployed based on measurements from accelerometers in the car. If some predetermined G-force is not met, the bags won't deploy. You could have the dealer verify a properly functioning system when the car is repaired but given you were hit from behind (negative G's) and then hit the car in front of you (positive G's), you may not have hit hard enough (for the car, not you) to have the bags deploy.

This might be handy for future reference: http://www.tonysbodyshop.com/Newsletters/airbags.htm

Car Accident and the Airbags Didn't Deploy

first you need to know if the air bag light was coming on before the accident, if the light was coming on then the car should be fixed before in order to get the air bags to work propelly, also were did you buy the car from? was this a new car purchased? or did you buy it used at small dealer ? because if it was new or bought used from a dealer, they are supposed to do an inspection safety check on every car before they can sell it to the public, also for what i understand the air bag module stores a lot of information after an accident, like what speed was the car going, if he did stop or acerelate the car at time of accident, it stores lost of information. and to be honest with you i don't know if the car can save this information with the air bag previously on, but ask the police department or the investigators to pull the information from the air bag module wich is like a black box installed on air planes, something similar, i hope and you stiil have the car or acces to it, but you right if he got out the caR at moment of firts impact, he would be here now, but that's just my way to think or imajine, since i was not there, i hope and this information help, and if you trying to sue somebody, make sure to try to sue the bigest company involve in this deal because i belive there will be only 1 sue case by case, you better get some legal help since i'm not an attorney, and i will aprecciate you ranking to my answer since that will really help my score
and reputacion here on fixya
