My 1988 F-150 wont start but will turn over.

It is a 1988 F-150 Larriot XLT 5.0 5 speed I changed the batt. cheacked the alt. and put a new starter in it. It started up and I drove it for about a mile and went to switch it in to 3rd and would not switch into any gear put it in to a neutral and let go of the clutch and stalled out wont start back up. It will turn over but wont start it is making a buzzing sound when I try to start it.

Look in this direction. You have solved the possible issues with the starting, now move on to checking your fuel and transmission. I suggest you look at the wires coming off the transmission first, then check to see if the TBI or carb are dry i.e. no fuel. The sound you could be hearing is your fuel pump or a normal sound coming from the starter switch. If you can give me more detail. I may be able to help more.

Battery light on, got new alt., starter tries to engage, but doesnt

Did you have the charging system diagnosed or did you just guess at it being the alternator . The charging system is computer controlled . The starter isn't working because low power , battery dead . Is there B+ voltage at the wire on the back of the alternator .B+ voltage at pin 3 at the connector pluged into the alternator .
Charge the battery use a volt meter an test for B+ voltage at the places i mention . No check engine light ? DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored .

I have a 1988 Larriot F-150 5 speed 5.0 it will turn over but wont start

You first have to see if you have a fuel or spark problem. The easy way is to spary starter fluid in throttle and see if it runs for a few seconds. If it does you have a fuel problem, possible fuel pump not running. If it does not you have a spark problem which can be a bad module, coil or rotor.
