They usually will hold 4-quarts unless you flush the torque convertor don't over fill your transmission as it will come out under pressure check the level with the car warmed up and running wipe the dipstick the reinsert it into the trans. pull out again and inspect on the rod the proper level by the marks

Remove sparkplug on 2000 pont. montanna 3.4

About the only way is to remove the coil pack, it still will be tight but this will give you enough room to work.

My 2004 pontiac montanas tranny slipes occasinally when taking off from a stop light.

the cause of this is either low fluid in the trans or a leaking internal seal in the trans, this causes a loss of hydraulic pressure and then the resaulting slippage

Speedo needle jumps up and down tranmission jumps around also changed speed sensior and pcm runs ok for 15 min. no luck

i have the same problem with me 2000 montana. i was told that it was the tcc switch. it means that the torque converter is stuck in the on postion. to fix the problem i was told either to swap out the tranny with another used one or to have the switch replaced. the switch is internal and they need to drop the trans down to access the panel on the front driver side. the part is only $90 but its 3 hours labour.
