Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Engine shuts off when driving on the highway.

Will start after it comes to a stop and then runs OK for a while. It may happen twice a month.

I had a similar problem, before it shut off, the rpm needle would booble up and down and then drop to 0 and shut off. After a while it would happen in the city and not just the highway. Ended up being the fuel pump, and I was also told the fuel pumps are known to fail on the mk4.

Check your fuel pump. This is how they fail most of the time. If you turn the key on and dont hear the pump prime then have your fuel pressure tested.
