Question about 2002 Mazda Protege

1 Answer

Hooked up battery wrong

Changed battery in my 2002 Mazda Protege and I connected the battery cables incorrectly and apparently blew a fuse, maybe a big blue one labeled 100amp. Sound right? Is it a fuse or something else? Did I damage anything else or did the fuse protect? What about damage to the new battery?

What could be wrong with my 2000 Mazda MPV the battery is good the dashboard lights don't turn on so it doesn't start what could be the reason

Apparently you have lost the connection between the battery and the main power wires. First check your battery cables for corrosion and tightness, if that's OK, start checking fuses. More than likely, you've blown a main fuse, but if that's the case, you may want to figure out why the fuse blew, because those don't just blow without a reason.

1991 Miata Help! Won't start, nothing at all on key turn, STILL after battery replacement. Help!

The main fuse blew. Look in your fuse box for a big fuse it should be labeled main or master fuse. Replace this fuse and vehicle should work everything but maybe the starting issues. You have a short somewhere. If the fuse blows again or the car won't start repost the problem

My mazda protege 2002 lighter is not working i would like to know what fuse controls it

The cover of the fuse box should have that information on it. If not check your owners manual, it will be labeled in there. If you don't have either one of those, I would start pulling fuses until you found which one is blown. Walmart sells an amazing fuse tester that you just touch it to the fuse and it will tell you if it's bad or good. It sells for about 10 bucks and comes with replacement fuses too. I highly recommend that for anyone!

3rd dead battery in 6 months

It's more likely a short circuit somewhere or a sticky door switch. Battery cables can be corroded but not normally bad in that they don't transfer current. Assuming the connections are tight and clean, the problem is probably elsewhere.

Mazda protege with no dashlight on.

First you must cut the Dimmer wire from your stereo installation.Second, replace the 5amp or maybe the 7amp fuse that blew at the fuse panel near the LEFT foot rest.If you are certain that all the fuses check fine, then go to your MAZDA dealer and purchase a new thumbwheel dimmer control, because the rheostat has burned in your present one.Do not reconnect the dimmer control wire 2 your stereo wiring, because U don't need to.

Possible electrical problems.

I would suggest that you check to see if the battery is connected properly---correct polarity!

If connected wrong, main fuse will blow. Lights come on because power is routed through the frame (ground) briefly.
Hope this helps.
