Changed battery in my 2002 Mazda Protege and I connected the battery cables incorrectly and apparently blew a fuse, maybe a big blue one labeled 100amp. Sound right? Is it a fuse or something else? Did I damage anything else or did the fuse protect? What about damage to the new battery?
Hey its the main fuse in the fuse box in the front of the car. its a little square box clear on the topside and i believe its yellow on the sides. its a big one, 100 amp I think. u can pick one up at any auto parts store. main fuse.

Apparently you have lost the connection between the battery and the main power wires. First check your battery cables for corrosion and tightness, if that's OK, start checking fuses. More than likely, you've blown a main fuse, but if that's the case, you may want to figure out why the fuse blew, because those don't just blow without a reason.
Connecting jumper cables the wrong wat around most likely has damaged electronic components such as a radio and computer. Check the fuse box and replace any blown fuses. If you still have problems then get an auto electrician to fix your car.
Help please....I have Mazda Protege 2002...the car was driving good..and suddenly the car didn't start at all i changed the starter the battery is fine because when i start the car the lights comes on and the radio works. I don't know what is the problem is...when i start the car it makes noise of tik tik. Please help me????
First you must cut the Dimmer wire from your stereo installation.Second, replace the 5amp or maybe the 7amp fuse that blew at the fuse panel near the LEFT foot rest.If you are certain that all the fuses check fine, then go to your MAZDA dealer and purchase a new thumbwheel dimmer control, because the rheostat has burned in your present one.Do not reconnect the dimmer control wire 2 your stereo wiring, because U don't need to.
It sounds like the car's security system is going off. Is there a key fob to lock/unlock doors and turn on alarm? If there is, connect battery, and immediately press alarm/unlock button to turn alarm off. I have a truck with an aftermarket alarm system installed by the previous owner, my battery died, and when I hooked up a new one the alarm went off, and it took a while before I hit the key fob button, but it stopped it. Let me know if this works for u.
