SOURCE: Hyundai Accent (97, auto) wont shift out of Park,

ur solenoid is bad u can replace it which is kinda expensive or u can take ur center consil out and remove the peg that unlocks ur shifter the only thing ur lock override does is manually pulls it out. i just jammed a golf tee in it to keep it open and it seemed to work just fine

SOURCE: my 2005 hyundai accent wont shift out of park

on most cars when u step on the brake pedal youll hear a "click" near the center console which is the shift solenoid releasing the "lock" on the floor shifter allowing the shifter to come out of park.check to make sure all the fuses are good and check the brake lite switch(es) and wiringfrom brake lite switch to shifter solenoid.a wiring diagram always helps.

SOURCE: 2005 hyundai Accent, can't shift out of park and no brake lights

may want to check the brake pedal switch located on top of the brake pedal arm. If all fuses looks good, replace the brake pedal switch, which can also cause to not shift out of park.

i would check the wires on the brake switch, make sure you don't have a broken wire. if the wires look good tap on the brake switch and then try putting it in to drive if it works then yomight need the replace the brake switch. but also that all of your fuses are good. somtimes that will do it also. try that good luck

If there is no check engine light on - check the transmission fluid by pulling out the dip stick (check the level and smell the fluid if it smells burnt, there is an internal problem with the transmission) if all this is ok then the problem may be one of the speed sensos or (pulse generators)

Make sure the brake lights are coming on if not the release solenoid that unlocks park gets no power and will not release the shifter from park position. Also check the owner's manual for a possible way to override the solenoid lock.

Hyundai accent won't shift out of park

You do have your foot on the brake when trying to shift ehh. If so could be a faulty brake to shifter cable.
Remove the center console and check that applying the brake de-activates the lock on the shifter

Hard shifting 04 hyundai accent.

Check your clutch fluid level in the clutch master cylinder's reservoir. If low add brake fluid. If very low or dry, the clutch hydraulic system should be bled to remove air in the line. Bleeding is done down at the clutch slave cylinder on the transaxle.
I would not recommend using a lighter oil. It may cause early wear of the transmission.

Why is my gear shift so hard to move??

I believe your clutch is not disengaging fully. When this happens it may be hard to get into first gear but subsequet shifts are easier due to the fact the vehicle is moving. You probably have a hydraulic clutch system which is low on fluid or may have air in the system. Before shifting into first gear or reverse try pumping the clutch pedal 5 or 6 times then shifting, if it goes into gear easier after this then you probably have air in the system, it can be bled similar to bleeding brakes. If this doesnt work you might be low on fluid, or have a bad master or slave cylinder.

'03 accent - reverse not engaging- drive wont shift above 30 mph -fluid is fine, battery is fine, brake/stop switch seems ok. cycled tranny thru gears &rechecked fluids & all ok -O/D lock switch...

Seems like your transmission has failed. Either some syncros or bearings are worn out. Its sounds like its time to either have it rebuilt or replaced.

My car was driving fine, and then all of a sudden, I went to accelerate after coming around a turn, and the car wouldn't shift into 2nd gear. It seems to drive fine in 1st, but it won't go into reverse...

Sounds like you're low on transmission fluid. Let the car warm up and then check the transmission fluid while it is in neutral at idle while it is parked on a level surface (make sure the emergency brake is on of course). If it is low use only dealer fluid. Hyundai takes a special automatic transmission fluid and if mixed with a universal fluid can ruin their transmissions.
