How do i change the oil pan gasket on a 1992 lincoln town car

    I know that, however, I was tryin to figure out if I needed to raise the motor and after getting under the car yesterday.......I realized that I do!!!!!! I think it's going to be more trouble than it's worth!!!!

You will have to drain the oil and drop the oil pan

    yea its going to take a lot of time and it will seem hard if you've never done it before. you will have to take the motor mounts and the raise the motor then drain the oil and take out the oil pan bolts and clean the motor surface and the oil pan and then reasemble. thats what you wil have to do if you do it your self

Installing oil pan gasket

There may be a transverse piece of metal under the pan.If so, you need to remove its bolts and it to get to the oil pan bolts.

I have antifreeze in oil pan & cylinder in my 1989 Lincoln Towncar

The most likely cause of this is a leaking head gasket or intake gasket. Depending on how much cash you want to put into this car, the best plan of repair is to replace both head gaskets, and when you do this, the intake gaskets get changed as well. You can have the heads cleaned and checked while they are off the car.

My guess is that it is the transmission pan. Check your transmission fluid to see if you have any.

Make sure the old filter gasket is not stuck on the filter housing. sometimes the old filter gasket comes off the old filter and when you put on the new one it will leak.

if its time to change the oil drain the oil and replace the oil pan gasket and the drain plug if needed then remove the bolts from the pan and replace the gasket.
