Question about 1998 Chrysler Town & Country
How do you replace or where is the ignition swicth located? My 98 T&C will not start sometimes, but if I turn the key back and forth a few times quickly I can usually get it to fire up. I figured I'd try to replace the ignition switch first, the ifnition coil, then starter.
Is there a starter relay for this car?
Before replacing parts that probably won't fix the problem ,learn how the starting system works for your vehicle ,then test !
Yes ,there is a relay an it is controlled by the PCM - powertrain control module . When you turn the key to the start position ,this does not have a direct hook to the starter . It's a B+ voltage input to the PCM - engine computer . The PCM must also see a message from the transmission control module that range sensor is showing the vehicle is in park or neutral and no problems with the anti-theft system , then it will energize the starter motor relay . Do you know what an how a relay work's ?
If don't know how to test ,using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter and a wiring diagram , LEARN HOW ! Free wiring here http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on engine then under subsystem click on starting . Click the search button then the blue link .
Watch this video , your vehicle starting system isn't this complex ,but close .

If you are talking about the cooling fan relay for the radiator there is no low speed and high speed relay. There is only one relay and it is behind the grill revitted to the bumper rail. It is doesnt look like you typical relay.
