Www.rockautpparts.com part number 1S8422 Hazard Warning Switch. $33.96 total cost. My 2002 Alero had switch in dash, not part of grill. Had to remove speedometer bezel and speedometer. Then take two small straight slots to put on holder to push tabs down to release. Patience is a virtue on this.

After replacing the stock stereo the hazard lights won't work

If the hazard switch was in the vacinity of the stereo you were replacing, you might have accidentally knocked a wire loose. I would check the connections to the hazard switch.

Replace the hazard switch. If it located in the steering column by the turn signal switch. You have to replace the turn signal switch. They are made together.

Where does the flasher go on a 98 chevy malibu

Replacement The turn and hazard flashers are integrated into one flasher on these models. The flasher is located in the hazard warning switch and the hazard warning switch is located on the trim plate. Replace the flasher by unplugging the old one, removing it from the panel, and plugging in the new one.
  1. Remove the bezel from the ignition switch.

the flasher is the hazzard switch and most likely the problem.

Flashing Unit for Indicators Replacement

Most likely it's the hazard switch - the relay for the hazards and the turn signals is built into it. When they start to die, you will see erratic behavior with the turn signals and/or hazards, and eventually they'll both fail completely. Replace your hazard switch on the dash and you'll be good to go.
