Ford focus engine managment system

Hi everyone having some problems with my 1.4 focus on a 51 plate the problem is that the tempgauge rises into the red which causes the warning light to come on and then the ecu puts the engine into safe mode which stops me from driving the car ,this happened a fortnight ago resulting in me being towed to the garage ,they diagnosed the engine temp sender was at fault and replaced it ,all was going fine until today when the same thing happened anyone had this problem with their focus . the car has only done 41500 miles. could the instrument cluster cause any of these problems

I doubt its the instrument cluster. Next time it does it, turn the heaters on full hot. If the air is very hot, you could be looking at a thermostat problem. If the air is cold, then you are either losing water or your waterpump is on its way out. However waterpumps dont tend to be sporradic, so i would go for water leaking.

Hi I have just got a Ford Focus 18 tddi 04 plate and the EML is on! any ideas or advice

You need to take the car in and have the engine control module scanned for the fault code that was set in memory when the check engine light (you foreigners call it an engine management light) came on. It can be any of hundreds of problems.

I have a Ford Focus 2l automatic on an 06 plate, the engine management system light came up and limited speed. Now it won't start at all help please?

Given all the electronics on your vehicle , there is nothing you will be able to do . Your best bet is to have it towed to a qualified repair shop . Your vehicle could have a computer problem , a serial data communication network problem . Your vehicle has a C.A.N serial data bus. Read this artical . How to Diagnose Controller Area Network CAN All the modules (computers) on your vehicle share info on this data bus . Cuts down on the weight of the vehicle by doing away with unneeded wiring . The first place to start would be to hook up a diagnostic tool , called a scan tool ,to see if all the modules will comminicate with the tool .

Hi Canenni, The Engine check light has come on because it has detected a fault in the management system. The best way of overcoming the problem is to take the vehicle for a diagnostic scan. By having that carried out it will identify the area of the problem and you can then have it attended and rectified. Regards John

Clutch problems

IT might be that the pressure plate fingers broke or the cluth plate has disintegrated. You will have to take the gearbox out and inspect the clutch.
