Puma wont crank.

Started as normal out of garage.
Back to it after 5 mins and interior lamps dim and wont crank. Battery is fully charged and Ive checked their connectors. Clicking from relay under bonnet. With Battery charger on battery the interior lamps are as normal but dim when trying to crank, now the remote has also stopped working.

Thanks for the advise which was relevent had my battery been as I thought.

It turned out to be a open circuit battery which must have occured in the period after getting the car out. New battery fitted - £60 - and now back to normal - 3rd battery on little used car.

Lights dimming a good clue, that means that there is power going to the solonoid but starter moter wont turn. Check all battery connections and starter connections Make sure battery has enough power to turn starter or try jumper cablea.
Sometimes the starter gets jambed up due to poor lube on the bendix. try hitting the housing with a hammer. You can take the starter out and bench rebuild or just replace it its not a hard job,

My 1990 geo prizm won't start and there's no interior lights what can be the problem

hello ,
wont crank or cranks fast but wont start.? (2 different answers)
you must tell the helper all things that work or dont work
that is how electrics function, by branches .
1: head lights work high and low beams. ( dim or dead?)
2; heater fan work on high?
3: radio.
4: cluster glows those warning lamps as all do key on (y/n)
5;cranks
6: interior lamps dead, my guess you mean the dome lamps.?
try to be more clear as to which of the many lamps inside are dead.
7: if its a no crank, car, say so, and check for green battery lugs
we clean them , if not corroded ,then we next jump start the car
using jumper cables, per instructions on the box.

is car automatic trans?
if yes and wont crank try cranking in Neutral not park.
step on brake /and key on, and shift to N.
then crank.

How do i bim and brighten dash light 2002 buick lesabre

bim or DIM ? the dimmer switch ! Interior Lamps
The interior lamps consists of two groups, lamps that can not be dimmed and lamps that can be dimmed. This first group consists of lamps that may not be dimmed. This includes those lamps that may be manually turned on by placing the interior lamp switch to the DOME position, or by opening a door or a compartment:
• Door courtesy lamps
• Footwell courtesy lamps
• Instrument panel (I/P) compartment lamp
• Overhead console courtesy lamps
• Reading courtesy lamps
• Rear compartment courtesy lamp
• Roof rail courtesy lamps
• Sunshade vanity mirror lamps

Interior Lamps Dimming
This group of interior lighting includes lamps which may be dimmed. This group uses a combination of class 2 controlled illumination and incandescent lamps:
• Air temperature switch
• Cigar lighter lamp
• Door switches
• Driver information center (DIC) switch
• Headlamp switch
• Head-up display (HUD) switch
• Heated seat switches
• HVAC control assembly
• Instrument panel cluster (IPC)
• Memory function switch
• Radio
• Steering wheel controls
• Window switches
For the interior lighting to be dimmed the following conditions must be met:
• A low light level has been detected by the dash integration module (DIM)
• Headlamp switch is placed in to the PARK or HEAD position
• Ignition switch is placed in the ON position
Then all class 2 displays and all incandescent back lighting will be illuminated to the level set by the instrument panel (I/P) dimmer switch. When the I/P dimmer switch is moved from MIN to MAX, all class 2 displays and all incandescent back lighting respond from minimum intensity to maximum brightness.
The DIM supplies battery positive voltage to the coil side of the PRK LP relay in the rear fuse block.
When the I/P dimmer switch is moved from MIN to MAX, then the instrument panel module (IPM), W/CJ2, or climate control panel (CCP), W/C67, applies a message to the class 2 communication circuit to the DIM. The DIM then applies a ground to the park lamp relay control circuit. This energizes the PRK LAMP relay and allows battery positive voltage to be applied through the DIMR fuse to the DIM. The DIM then illuminates the following incandescent lamps through the incandescent dimming output circuit:
• Cigar lighter lamp
• DIC Switch
• Headlamp switch
• HUD switch
• HVAC control assembly
• IPC
• Radio
• Steering wheel controls
The DIM also applies a message to the following class 2 controlled illumination components:
• Drivers door module (DDM)
• HVAC control assembly
• IPC
• Radio
The DDM will then send a message through the simple bus interface (SBI) to the RH front door module (RFDM). The door modules will then illuminate the following components through the incandescent dimming output circuit:
• Air temperature switch
• Heated seat switches (W/KA1)
• Memory function switch (W/A45)
• Power door lock switches
• Power window switches
The ground for these components are provided from the DDM and RFDM.
The following components are grounded at G200:
• Headlamp switch
• HVAC control assembly
• IPC
• Radio
• Steering wheel controls
The following components are grounded at G201:
• Cigar lighter lamp
• DIC Switch
• HUD switch

Replace dimmer switch for 2007 Buick Lacrosse

Are you sure you want to do that ? Are you guessing that's the problem ? Do you know what DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's are ?

DTC B2610

The body control module (BCM) applies a voltage reference through the instrument panel (I/P) dimming voltage reference circuit to the interior lamp switch. When the switch is placed to the desired position, the dimmed voltage setting is applied from the interior lamp switch through the I/P dimming return circuit to the BCM. The BCM applies the dimmed voltage to the I/P lamps supply voltage circuit.
Do you know how to do electrical testing ?
Reconnect the lamp switch assembly.
Disconnect the body control module (BCM) connector C1.
Using a DMM, measure the resistance between the I/P dimming voltage reference circuit and the I/P dimming control circuit.
Vary the I/P dimming switch from full bright to full dim.
Does the DMM, display change?

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?
Yes - Go to Step 2
No - Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle
2
Verify that the interior backlighting does not dim.
Does the interior backlighting operate normally?
Yes - Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections
No - Go to Step 3
3
Do the instrument panel (I/P) lamps dim?
YES - Go to Step 13
No - Go to Step 4
4
Do the class 2 lamps dim?
Yes - Go to Step 5
No - Go to Step 6
5
Test for a short to battery positive voltage in the I/P lamps supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .
Did you find and correct the condition?
Yes - Go to Step 14
NO - Go to Step 13
6
Disconnect the lamp switch assembly.
Does all the illumination of the backlight components turn OFF?
Yes - Go to Step 8
No - Go to Step 7

After sitting for a while I can get about 2 normal sounding cranks when I turn the key and then nothing. I still have power so I don't have a clue. It started when my wife pulled out of the driveway...

no ,you dont have power.
the battery uses 100 to 500 amps to run the starter.
normal is 100amps , on warm day. really the starter is the ACID test of any battery.
the ignition uses 5 amps. (nothing) same with lamps. trivial currents.
the battery is not charged, , so charge it. or...
if the battery is bad , it will not take a charge and hold 12.6volts.
try a known good and charged battery in car. that work?
yes?
then either the battery was bad, or you left on lamps?
or the charge system failed and battery drained.
bad cranking 101
1: bad battery.
2: discharged battery (or any reason)
3: bad battery connetions, corroded lugs.
4: charge system failure.
5: phantom drain (dark current) or left on lamps over night.
1: put in fresh good battery.
2: start car, is voltage across battery terms near 14.7v?
yes, good charge system.
no?, its 12.5v, charge system is dead.

Battery is dead and wont start

Make sure the battery is fully charged before trying again. If the battery wont charge get a new one. Once installed use a multimeter to verify that the alternator is charging.

I had the same problem too..My battery was stone dead..My lights were on but their probably isnt enough cranking amps to start the truck...I would take the battery out and charge it overnight and then try to crank it in the morning...i just changed the battery and the truck started right up

I have a 1998 chrysler concorde and installed an aftermarket stereo. before installing this stereo the car cut off and wont cut back on.there is a full charge battery and lights come on but the car won't...

If no engine cranking (Turning over) then starter / battery / wiring fault. If ignition lamps work with key on and DO NOT DIM when starter is activated = faulty starter or wiring to it. If lights dim and chattering / click is heard = flat faulty battery.

Dim interior lights, power locks wont work......

Try looking at your battery. Check the cables to make sure they are tight and clean. Brush the corrosion off with a wire brush. Now, if you have a wiring schematic, find the ground for the interior lights and clean it up too. Oh, put vasoline on it, and the battery cables, to keep them corrosion free. Check the other grounds in the car cabin too.
