Question about 2001 BMW 325

Window won't go up or down

I was rolling down my rear passenger window and it made a crunching sound and then stopped. It now won't go up or down, but when I press the button it still makes a (kinda scary) noise. Since it still makes noise I don't think it's the motor but maybe a gear popped loose? I don't want to take it to a mechanic if it's something simple and inexpensive I can fix myself. Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong?

The BMW dealer told me that the power window regulators need to be replaced, usually before 100,000 miles, but mine is a bit over. The cost is about $1,000. So, my question is the same: does it really have to cost this much?

i have a 1995 bmw 325is and my passenger window jumped out of track some kind of way. now the back part of the window stayed in track cause if u have seen one before it has no choice realy. its built very well, but on the other hand the fron part of the window just slides up and down on this track. so the two plastic slides that go back an forth on its rails has broken and the window has jumped out of track and is positioned past the little rail it use to slide up and down on. so now i have to find the part numbers for those two little plastic pieces and also see if i have to take my car to bmw or i can just find any shop to fix it. i tried getting the window atleast back in its track and its like impossible.

our window regulator is driven by plastic pulleys and wire cables.  They brake all the time.  You will need a new regulator for the window.  They are not cheap and it takes some kowledge to remove the door panel.  It is not like the olden days There are no tracks to put it back onto anymore.  Bmw has had numeorous failures when going to this design as well as other manufactures

Soundls like your window motor went bad. Could also be window regulator or just a bad wiring conection. Take off door pannel and check the connections and the motor. Hope that helps

It sounds like it could be the window solenoid, or the window motor. It's unlikely the switches on both doors are bad. Check the solenoids and motors...

04@yahoo.comI rolled the window down on my 94 Mercury Marquis and all I got was a crunch crunch crunch. What happened? Is ti hard to fix? Will I need any special tools?

_31.gif I had the same problem, remove inner door panel remove plastic, drill or cut rivets that hold winow regulator in place, I used a dremel to remove rivets, replace rivets with 1/4 nuts and bolts and lock washers, rear windows are a little easier than front.

I have the exact same problem on a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2004. The rear passenger window rolls down only from the rear passenger window and won't go up or down from the front. It has to be in the wiring because the problem was intermittent initially and a new window motor does the exact same thing. If you figured it out or have the wiring diagram please let me know.

My rear passenger window won't roll down.

definatly no fuse try and swap the rear window swithes over and see if the other window works with that switch but my guess is that it is the regulator in the door not the motor ,that is the cablr that the motor wind up and down open the door cover and have a look at it
