There are a few things that can cause your car to run hot. Not enought antifreeze is one. It could also be your cooling fan is not working, a colgged heater core, colgged radiator, thermostat is stuck closed, leaky water pump, or coolant temp sending unit. Hope this helps.

Antifreeze smell and loose antifreeze in the engine compartment, 2001 Nissan Altima.

Radiators with plastic tanks suffer from splitting/cracked tanks on the older cars. Any coolant outside the radiator is an indication of failure and the radiator should be replaced with a new unit as repair costs almost as much as a new one. There is no need for genuine as the radiator manufacturers make genuine and non genuine to the same specs for around half the price. Any accredited radiator shop will have a unit for you.

I had put dexcool anti freeze in my 2003 altima nissan now it's smoking a thick white smoke from my exhaust

Dexcool antifreeze cannot be mixed with any other antifreeze except the new all makes all models antifreeze. If you mixed it with green or any other antifreeze it becomes toxic & will eat away from the inside out. Try flushing it all out, but it sounds like you blew a head gasket & may have hurt other cooling system components.

1996 nissan altima running hot changed thermostat new radiator you can drive it an hour before it runs hot

check the operation of the fans, since the radiator was recently replaced, it is posible they may not be plugged in correctly or operating like they should, if they look good, look into the water pump, with the work that u already did the only this left to look at after the water pump is the intake or head gasket, any water in oil or vice versa? look into that if all else fails....

Heater blows cold air at low speed and idle 02 nissan altima

I worked at a Nissan dealer for 18 months and we'd get a lot of these in. The cold heat at idle is accompanied by a sloshing noise from behind the dash - you've got an air pocket in the heater core. What we used to do was lift the front end of the car about 3 feet off the ground using the hoist and take the rad cap off. Then we'd run the engine at a fast idle (jam a screwdiver against the throttle stop to hold it fast or put a slight weight on the pedal if it's Electronic Throttle Body. Run the heater on full heat and the engine like this. You'll see the rad 'burping' as the air in the cooling system travelling to the highest point it can - the open rad cap. Top up with a 50/50 mix of coolant and water as you go. When it burps no more, you have a full cooling system and should not suffer any more "cold heat".

If you do this yourself, PLEASE use jack stands, block the back wheels and put the parking brake on!!!

I have a 1995 cadilac elderado that keeps over heating, it has excessive preasure building up we have changed the thermastate, ran a hot wire to the fan so it always runs , changed tempature sending unite...

When the engine is cold, and the radiator is full, starting the engine, does it blow out the radiator? If it does, then a head,or head gasket is blown. If not, bleed the system of air.The engine cooling system might have air that needs to be purged out.

Heater doesn't work

does the blower still work?? Are you waiting long enough for the engine to warm up?? your heat comes from the engine heat. hot coolant (antifreeze) flows through the heater core (like a smaller radiator) behind the dashboard. the blower pulls air through the hot heater core, making the air hot.
If it blows air, but never gets warm, you should first check your coolant. if you drive your car without it, you will have big, expensive engine problems. If there is no coolant or very low coolant, you need to check for leaks after you refill it. (make sure you get the right kind of antifreeze. autozone can help)
most cars that new dont have radiator caps. Instead there is a seperate coolant tank under the hood. fill it to the full mark, let the car run and watch it. It will **** down the coolant from that tank untill the radiator is full.
If you have plenty of coolant, you may need a new thermostat. sometimes they get stuck. some stick open, some stick shut. It is usually easy to change one and they are cheap. I can't help you much with that cuz its different on every car. on my car, I have to crawl under it to get to the thermostat. hope this helps.
