hi thanks for reply. it happens when going up the revs i.e taking off quick through the gears. the clunk i mentioned it feels like its hitting the throttle pedal and then goes through the car? i have not had car long and as far as im aware there is no engine mods just body styling. this seems to have all started a couple of weeks ago, i work as a car valeter and wanted to clean around the engine (bad mistake) so used some trafffic film remover around the engine and then steamed, trying to avoid hitting the engine. when finished i started car up and to be honest it sounded it was running on 3 cylinders, there was no drive, engine managment light stayed on, so i left car running for an hour or so then all seemed to dry out. but thats when i noticed this misfire and all probs ive mentioned. i have not had anyone take a look at car as ive been home on sick.

Has it been tuned up lately?

Ya , might be a good idea to remove all the different connectors including those on the sensors etc., that you can get to, and spray them good with electrical contact cleaner, then dab a little di-electric grease on them before snapping them back on, to minimize any problems down the road. Have someone take a look at your motor mounts while you do a slight brake torque in forward & reverse, just to check them too. If engine seems to shift around too much, it may just be that you have one gone,or going and all the other stuff was coincidence. hope you feel better soon.

Clunking/ticking noise during acceleration in 3rd and 4th gears

This sounds on the base of it to be pre ignition, if so the moment you take the foot off the gas it goes? The cure is to retard the ignition timing slightly, have you recently changed your octane of fuel? this will also cause this?
The noise is caused by the expansion of the compressed gases expanding before the piston reaches top dead centre causing the piston to \'rattle\' left unchecked will cause permanent damage and engine failure

Clunking and sputtering noise when driving check engine light on code 0300

air fuel mix is wrong, its a jumping code meaning its misfiring on all cylinders, broken valve spring would only do one cylinder, could be the timing is out or its being starved of fuel or air. or you have a vacuum leak or manifold leaking. can also be a clogged egr. . and also a clogged fuel filter, also induction flush can do more damage than good. if its not done properly the loose particles can clog up in the small veins in the engine. in away just moves a none problem oil problem to a motion problem.

03 GMC Yukon transmission clunk at idle

2005 Yukon XL 1500 2wd 252,000 miles
It developed a noise like a can full of rocks slowly rolling
It only did it in neutral or park with engine running.
Putting in gear would stop it.
Turned out to be a loose filter element in the transmission.
At least that's what I was told by my mechanic.
Solved the noise though

No power when accelerating hard

Possibly a plugged catylitic converter. This can cause to much back pressure and that will cause the engine to run poorly under acceleration or loaded conditions.
