The symptoms are those of a stretched cable. On inspection it would seem that the nearsisde bonnet catch releases before the offside and on inspection there appears to be no means of adjustment for either cable. It this fact and the only remedy is replacing the cable or is there any means of adjustment that I am missing? I have only done a visual inspection without removing any internal panels.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

remove the o/s/f indicator this can be done by putting a thin screw driver between the bonnet and wing to push the indicator release tab down. once the indicator is out of the way you can see the bonnet catch behind the headlamp use a torch to locate where the cable should be and pull the latch towards you. it should take you about 10 mins to do this

hi,
If the cable is snapped in your car, then get underneath the car.Try to reach the catch and flip it manually. If you are unable to reach it with bare hands, a bent metal hanger would help to do it.Now,open the bonnet. You can reach the parts in bonnet now. If you are uncomfortable or unable to do it, please call a "Repair person" in the nearest locality to help you.Have a nice day. Please rate my solution as helpful.

if the bonnets cable is not broken wiggle one corner of the bonnet and see if it will release the catch. You may have to push on the corner very hard rapidly even on both sides if one side does nbot work for you. I find that to work on most cars. The problem for most cars that the hood or bonnet adjusters are worn and bind the opening process
