Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

1997 Grand Cherokee Laredo

I just bought the car for my wife to drive....the car diagram in the center console keeps flashing. The only thing lit up is an orange curved rectangle where it appears the windshield would be, directly behind the hood on the diagram, as well as the day/date/time. The other lights light up telling you when the door is open and stuff like that. How do you set/reset the diagram? Pushing in the set button does nothing. Any ideas how to set the day/date/time to the correct day/date/time?

If all else fails, can i just disconnect this thing? Maybe pull out a fuse or something? I really dont need a flashing diagram to distract her while she's driving.

Thanks for any help you can give us!

Thanks Motor.....that is all it was...added fluid and the light stopped blinking, which in turn allowed me to set the clock and day/date settings also.

Heck, the guy I bought it from said the light has been blinking since 2004 and he never knew how to correct it so he just lived with it. Thanks again for the help.

I nee a wiring haness diaram 98 jeep grand cherokee laredo 5.2

Not sure what you mean when you say complete diagram but below is the wiring diagram for the headlights only. Other than a possible problem in the switch itself, the only common thing I see is both headlughts have the same ground location. In the last picture I have put an arrow as to the location of that ground which you may want to clean and see if that takes care of it. Hope this helps....

Jeep grand cherokee alarm system

The 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Anti-Theft System is equipped with Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS). VTSS system monitors vehicle doors, hood, liftgate and ignition. If an attempt is made to enter or operate vehicle without proper disarming of system, vehicle horn will sound, headlights, taillights and parking lights will flash, and engine will be prevented from running.

The following wiring diagram and electronics circuit contains detail schematics of The 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Anti-Theft System. Herein you will find interconnection between electronics parts of the system such as body control module, auto headlamp light sensor. VTSS led, driver door module, passenger door module, cylinder lock switch, junction block, power distribution center, and grounding. Herein you will learn also how the Vehicle Theft Security System works, removal, installation, testing and troubleshooting procedures.

Try HERE and also, remember that here can find the Jeep Grand Cherokee Service Repair Manual.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Information center not working on 1997 jeep grand cherokee

The information center located on the overhead console gathers information from several sources. If some of those sources are not providing info then the display won't show it. When you say it is not working you need to see first if it is lit or not, or is it that some data (not all) is not showing?

Check your throtle postition sensor. It monitors what postion the throtle is at and sends that info to the ecm. It will go bad and cause that problem.

You tell us Jeep Cherokee (Laredo), in a Grand Cherokee subforum? I confussed.

If this is a Cherokee, review the Repair Manual XJ Cherokee

If this is Grand Cherokee, review ths Repair Manual ZJ-Secc-8W-Wiring-Diagrams (page 7, 9 and 10 for location, details and description). The diagramas can find it in the next pages.
