Timing belt snaped as I started how can I see how to set cam and pully belts TDC

First thing you need to tell us is the manufacturer, year, model, and engine size of the vehicle. Many vehicles have interference engines. These engines, if the timing belt breaks, will invariably suffer internal damage to the valves and possibly the pistons. Simply replacing the belt(s) will not fix these engines. And even where there is no damage, such as replacing a worn, but not broken belt, care must be taken when replacing timing belts on interference engines since excessive movement of the camshaft or crankshaft without knowing where it is physically located can cause damage. On an interference engine, once the belt breaks, you are best to remove the head(s), inspect for damage and repair as necessary. Then, prior to re-installation of the heads, position the crankshaft and camshafts properly and secure them in place when installing the head(s). Then install the belt. If the vehicle does NOT have an interference engine, then you have a much easier go of things as there is no chance of internal damage due to the belt breakage. We simply need the vehicle info to inform you on how to find the marks and set the alignment.

How to change timing belt on 2002 stratus

This engine uses a timing chain not a timing belt, a timing chain never needs to be replaced unless it fails or the engine is being rebuilt

1987 toyota SR5, 22REC pickup, engine squeals loudly upon start up. Recently replace the belts and just retightened them today. What could be the cause of the squeal? Also, how often does the timing chain...

the squeel is most likely the pulleys are contaminated with old rubber from the old belts or that you have a dry alternator bearing,if you try running the engine without the belt you will locate the problem easier.
the timing belt should be changed every 60k or 5 years whichever soonest...

Where do i find a diagram of the timing belt and pully for a 2000 grand am on the internet?

your vehicle depending on eng size dosen't have a timing belt, only a chain, so you'll probably have a easier time finding a timing chain diagram and needed pullys. You will need to specify engine i.e. 2.8, or 3.1 or 3.4 or 3.8,... info will be located on sticker under hood typically white with black print rectangular or square shaped

1999 chevy malibu

That engine does not have a timing belt, it has a timing chain and therefore much easier to work with as it can only go on a certain way, the primary focus being getting the dots on the timing chain sprockets lined up properly.

I believe, with the engine at Top Dead Center on cylinder #1, the dots will be facing each other. That is to say, the do on the cam sprocket will be facing the dot on the crank sprocket.
